Roofer - how?

I've been trying to get a leak in my roof repaired. Having lost a couple of months to one highly recommended tradesperson who to be fair did come round to spec out the work but didn't follow through with the quote, I've since called and left messages for three more recommended roofers but not one call back. Is it a thing with roofers that you have to leave multiple messages before they'll respond? Feeling a little desperate as almost three months later I appear to be no closer to getting this sorted and Autumn is now upon us.

Of the leak or the non responders, KK ;-) Pretty sure the leak is failed chimney flashings which I was told might be best dealt with by removal of the chimney given its general poor condition and the cost of lead flashings. I was waiting for two quotes, one for the above, the other for roof replacement.
