I have an annoying problem with my Nokia Lumia 800

I lose the Time & Date settings every time I power it off.

Problem has existed since I first got it but have been trying to resolve the problem.

Googling the problem would seem to suggest I am not alone.

I have tried all suggestions but nothing will resolve the problem.

Changing the time to AM/PM as opposed to 24HR.

Making sure Auto Update is checked.

Turning off Wi-Fi before powering down.

Making sure I have Full Battery.

Checking Time Zone is correct.

Anyone have the same phone and experiencing the same problem

or knows how to resolve the problem.

I believe reset to factory settings may solve the problem but then I will lose all my data.

There is currently no S/W update available for my phone.

As it was happening from the beginning, I'm not convinced a factory reset will resolve the problem.

But I'm pretty certain all Data will be lost. Contacts, emails, texts, Apps.

Not worth risking. :-(

Foxy.

Hello Mr Fox, I too had a Lumia 800, mine did the same thing, I solved it by never turning it off!

Factory reset will clear the board, back it up via Zune.

But the glitch is in-built and will return.

Wait to the end of contract and go for a phone that runs 8.1 Great improvements have been achieved

I went for the Lumia 1020, primarily for the camera and is soon to be discontinued

Had the phone some time now.

Keep my phone on at night.

Only ever turn it off if requested to by being in restricted area.

I do like the phone and has a good battery life.

Having said that, it is not possible to access the battery or open up the device

without resulting to some serious brute force.

Aren't all your contacts, emails etc synched? I don't see how you could lose them just because you temporarily don't have them on the phone.

Or is it not an Android phone?

And apps you can easily reinstall, "your" apps should all be listed online in one place?

I did a factory reset on my phone for a different issue, and it really was a lot less hassle than trying to sort the initial issue!

Its a Windows Phone so my numbers are stored in Windows Live.

Not sure if numbers removed from phone are removed from Windows Live.

I would suspect Windows Live is synched to my device.

I do not want to loose some of my my Texts.

There is no facility on The Nokia Lumia 800 to download or copy them to PC.

On later modles you can.

Most of my emails will be in Windows Live Mail.

Like right-clicking said:-

So no point in resetting.

    • What is it that makes Waitrose so special! Admittedly I have shopped a couple of times in the Orpington and Beckenham one - sometimes buying food which I cannot get else where. Their 'basic range' is not bad. Price for price and quality - M & S.
    • Sometimes a shed or other installation has to have written approval from the freeholder i.e. Southwark, Southwark has (or did have) a Leaseholder Association.   Could also come under Anti Social Behaviour Unit.
    • Love Dulwich is great but has a large step in front. We have only been weekdays at Lunch time. Maria's next to Picture House is disabled friendly. Also can reserve table in advance. We did a Sunday lunch catch up with family - there were 8 of us.
    • Hi, Thinking about  going with some friends and was just wondering if folk might like to report back please. Most importantly sound level when busy & is it disabled friendly.  Thinking on a Sunday lunchtime but don’t want a busy busy environment or loud chatter - a couple of friends could not cope. Time can be flexible, if that helps - say 2 ish to avoid above.. Thanks…
