Went along to the FA Cup match on Saturday. I know this will irk the die-hard fans out there, but it was abject c$$p. There did not appear to be any commitment or passion from the players, and I thought the skills level was very poor. Is this sort of showing the norm for the club, or was this a particularly bad "off day"? The opponents Worthing completely out played Dulwich. I am not a football aficionado, but I see that they are a level below Dulwich. In recent years, I have only been to non-league football matches and then only the early rounds of the FA Cup at clubs who are at level five( there's something fascinating about seeing the small clubs who start the competition playing "in the local park"). These clubs seem to be no different to what I witnessed on Saturday. I must say, after a 15 year gap, I was looking forward to better. Great crowd atmosphere and participation, though. Again, is this the norm or was it just a "bad day at the office"?

Otta Now that you've mentioned the loss of the star man, I'm thinking I heard of a player signing to a league club?

El Pibe Guess that's right - "ups and downs" - I just expected something better/different and the crowd must have been about 500, which was fantastic, as opposed to the 80 - 100 at the other grounds I attended

    • My wife lost a gold hoop earring with faux diamonds somewhere between Peckham Rye and Herne Hill on Tues 11 Nov. It's about an inch diameter with an interesting 'twist' pattern. She'd be extremely grateful to get it back on the off chance that anyone has found it!
    • Sorry if this is bullying, or name calling or whatever  but anyone quoting Rupert Lowe is just never ever going to have a valid point  several people misreported  that line not just the bbc - seems to have been a mishearing and I’ve seen plenty of corrections   So I don’t think it was a lie (it remains a curious distinction tho why say foreigners and nationals at all   If you want to bring back the death penalty why mention this distinction?)
    • I agree with HeadNun that impartiality is crucial to good, trustworthy journalism and that in this case the BBC fell short of the high standards we expect of them, also that this has led to a situation that puts the BBC in an almost impossible situation and has given fuel to those that want to destroy or control it. That said, I also agree with Sephiroth that there is an even more important issue at stake here that we must not allow to be overshadowed and that the motivation of Trump on that day was not essentially misrepresented. I think it is terrifying that Trump may be capable of muzzling and destroying an institution like the BBC, as at the same time he perpetuates  a narrative and furore that aides him as he repeatedly seeks to draw attention away from his own undoubtedly criminal behaviour. I think the BBC has to fight this and only hope that in the process they/we are not bankrupted.
