Convex
Ive got 3 slings and thinking i need a new one.My youngest is 7mo and quite chunky and long of leg. we use a beco gemini with him but increasingly I'm thinking i need something that supports his thighs better (the beck is slightly narrower in the body as it allows you to have the baby forward facing) we have an ergo which fits really well but i don't like the hip carry option on that, i find it uncomfortable. i tend to carry him on the hip mostly so was wondering about a scootababy or hipseat, something along those lines. Or would something like a manduca be better...any advice for hip carriers? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/49286-sling-advice/ Share on other sites

miss
The best thing for a hip carry IMO is a ring sling. They look faffy but they are really quick once you get the knack. As your baby is older I'd suggest one that issue from woven wrap fabric as they'll be most supportive. I think that Emily at the South London sling library will do postal hires. If not then It's A Sling Thing are very good. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/49286-sling-advice/#findComment-783074 Share on other sites
monniemae
I would try a tula... I have a connecta which I've used from 5m, Manduca are great but she is already bit big for them at a year whereas Tula by all accounts are fabulously comfy and supportive plus work for a big toddler too Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/49286-sling-advice/#findComment-783079 Share on other sites
miss
Tulas are wonderful but you can't hip carry in them. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/49286-sling-advice/#findComment-783084 Share on other sites
Gooders79
For hoping them on and off I find my Hipseat really helpful, not great for really long distances. Love my ergo and don't mind the hip carrying but it is a faff. alieh
I have just listed a Coorie Fleece pouch sling that I found good for hip carries. You still have to support them a bit at the back when you're bending over, etc. but I think that is the case for any of the ones like the hip seat, etc. It is also handy because it is flat and folds up really small so you can keep in your bag, under the buggy, etc.It is here: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?25,1395643 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/49286-sling-advice/#findComment-783338 Share on other sites
