Fabulous local MP is driving forward a measure to conceal MPs' expenses (i.e. to conceal that certain MP's fund pergolas and so forth at taxpayers' expense):

I'm all in favour of appropriate money being spent on things that are necessary to enable our representatives to do their jobs (in other words I'm not one of these obsessive 'small government' people) but I think there should be transparency to stop abuse.

Please do join the fray (e.g. write to your MP) if you agree. There's plenty of help around to help you e.g. Write To Them.

I can't say as there is any political party who represents my views if you go by their policies. Some parties do to some extent but no one enough that I really feel happy about voting for them. And then of course they rarely stick to their policies anyway if it suits them to do otherwise.

I think you get some people in politics who are genuinely there because they believe in what they stand for, but an awful lot of them just seem to be there because they love the power, forgetting they are meant to be there to serve us.

I still can't believe they are allowed to vote for their own pay increases. Surely it should be pegged in line with the average earnings index or some other objective measure - like average public sector pay award for example.

The problem with this forum is, that the users are so well informed and are able to bring the obnoxious behaviour of our

politicians right in your face so that I end up angrrrrry and upset by their bare faced, thick skinned, brass necked......

bunch of conniving...no good.......

A Limited company which makes profit has to produce accounts for all to see, and yet they go spending this money without

any accounting to anyone.

The damned sauce, I'm fuming.

    • Yes,I presumed so , but having been unable to find one ,I thought I'd ask on here.
    • Sorry to hear that, New Wave. I hope you find something soon. I genuinely had this situation in Superdrug on the south coast yesterday. I was buying their own version of E45 cream (it's about a third of the cost) and they asked if I had my Superdrug card with me. I didn't. Who does?  But they were able to apply the appropriate discount to my purchase due to them having my mobile phone number and email on record.  You can fill in any old bollocks for the loyalty card. I found it quite funny when they asked me to confirm that I was Dr. Dave Dave, of Dave Road, Dave, London, SE15 5DV. I'm actually not a real doctor!
    • With gym memberships, it depends how often you go and how much you get out of it. If you go 3 times a week or lose 10kg in a year, that's a bargain. If you never go, it's incredibly expensive. There are people who will happily spend £50 2-3 times a week at the pub or on takeaway food or coffees over the course of a week or leasing a car. Whether it's worth it is up to you. 🤷‍♂️
    • Also, if you keep receipts but don't have a card, they will give you the discounts you would have had. Probably a good idea to take the receipts in at a quiet time, though 🤣
