Agreed, but don't like your chances, and dread to think what they would become if some Parkhill Properties type developer got their hands on the sites. Maybe the existing ugly is the lesser of two weavel's (ala Russ Crowe) compared to the new ugly.

I'm sure you could do some intersting things with the exterior by cladding or rendering & painting? Probably make the buidling a lot more eco at the same time. I reckon making better use of what's there with a bit of taste and ingenuity is a much better option than knocking down and starting again...
