Si Mangia Italian

Si mangia is a fab restaurant, we take our children there regularly for dinner, they are always well looked after, we order one bowl of pasta/ pizza for them and it is brought on two plates, they love the olives too. We always have a great meal and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

If you are against eating pizza then don't order it, there are plenty of other options available.

I do not get the fascination at all. If you want to eat it, fine be my guest, it's your money. But Seriously, do we have to have endless chat about how amazing this basic culinary delight is? We go from conversations about how some establishments make angelic pizza and how amazing the food is - it's so so basic, the average Italian person would literally be peeing themselves with laughter at some of this food snobbery. It's embarrassing to be honest. I love food with thought, a decent ravioli would be my idea of good Italian food with imagination, just as a great rogan josh made from fresh chillies and without the powder and E numbers would be. It's just awkward hearing people singing the praises of such a very very basic dish such as this, a young child can make one of these things and it will probably taste no different to one made by an adult there is ZERO skill involved in my opinion.

I'm sticking with cheese on toast. I'll even add a splash of concentrated tomato pur?e next time to prove just how it tastes no different!

Louisa.

Louisa you can't be serious! As others have wittily pointed out food isn't just about the ingredients used but how they are used. Food is about texture as well-think of the difference between an apple pie and an apple crumble-exactly the same ingredients but completely different experience.

A Rogan Josh should be made with dried chillies not fresh chillies, but this kind of food snobbery is embarrassing, so I'll leave it.

So that's basically some dough, with a bit of sauce in the middle.

Hold on, that's a bit like pizza, innit?

You couldn't make it up. (Only you do)

    • Hi there  We live on Woodwarde Road backing on to Alleyns Top Field.  Our cat Gigi has gone missing — it’s been about 24 hours now. She is a cream Bengal. Could you please check sheds, garages, or anywhere she might have got stuck please? And if you could keep an eye out or share on any local groups/forums, we’d really appreciate it. Photo attached.   Thanks so much! My name is Jeff on 07956 910068.
    • Colin.    One for the old school.   Just saying.
    • Signed, and I will share it elsewhere, thank you for posting this. It's got nearly 70,000 signatures at present, and apparently runs till February.
    • There’s a couple of Gov petitions going on in relation to fireworks at the moment but this one is for banning them entirely except organised displays if anyone wants to sign. This is the only sensible way forward in my view. No one should be able to let them off in gardens or anywhere like that, it’s crazy. I am surprised some of you have said it hasn’t been as bad this year. I live near DKH Saino and it’s been absolutely terrible my way for days. This petition gained about 20,000 just in the last day or so so clearly the appetite is there! https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/732559
