question for expert sewers out there

Help! A little advice needed!

I'm helping out do the costumes for a school play and I need to velcro up some blazers so they can be ripped open to great dramatic effect. My question is, will fabric glue hold the velcro or will I need to sew? I don't have a machine.

I would think the Velcro would be stronger than the glue, therefore you need to sew them, there is a place in forest hill that rents out machines for a weekend...

You could hand sew the tabs if easier but make sure you attach securely I.e stitch around the outside of the tab then do a stitched cross/x through the middle. This would hold, but depends how many you have to do!

Def think fabric glue wouldn't hold.

Poppers might work better since you could sew these easily by hand.

You could sew Velcro on by hand but it is very tough so hard on the fingers! You can get iron-on or self-adhesive Velcro but I'm not sure how strong it would be...
