Does anyone know whats happening with the lovely Springers? I noticed it was up for auction a while ago but still seems to be open. It would do so well on the lane - its always seemed a shame more people dont venture the extra 5 mins for it

People have been venturing the extra 5 mins for a while, but he owners have sold up and retired. Shame yes, but people do move on. Do a search on this forum and you shall find another thread about it.

personally I thought the food in there was mediocre, I know it has some fans though.

walked past on Sunday morning and it looked like there had been a lock in the previous night, bottles and glasses all over the place, perhaps it was the last night.

Believe the last night was the 19th December, which is when I went. Very disappointed by food and service, so won't miss it at all. Was totally ignored after the mains were brought, even after asking for the menu again so could order coffee or something else. And this was at the beginning of the evening. Not how I would like to remember the place. Shame.
