My partner is about to undergo fairly serve Scoliosis Surgery, when she returns home she may well need home care. Has anyone experienced home care? If so can you let me know what your experience was like and any advice on how I ought to approach such organisations?

I am more than happy to chat via PM or email.

Thanks

J

The hospital should organise this on discharge. I work for Greenwich social services, and in that borough, they will complete a financial assessment to judge what contribution a person makes towards their care plan. In terms of the actual service, feedback varies. My advise would be to complain if you're not happy, and have the carer changed, as some of them do take the p!ss a bit... However, some people get on great with the carer and there are no problems, it's sort of luck of the draw. If you want to sort it for yourself, call Southwark and ask for disability care management, and they'll be able to give you a list of approved agencies. Good luck, hope all goes well!

    • Another recommendation for Niko. Great communication, top guy, and super reliable and skilled - all at a fair price. Takes a lot of care in what he does and talks you through everything.
    • Some foxes are very tame. The foxes that live near the electricity sub-station thing on the corner of Calton and Woodwarde will happily walk up to you/passed you. They are some of the best looking foxes around so clearly being well-fed - glorious coats and bushy tails but interested in humans and keen to engage/be fed rather than being scared.
