I'm visiting East Dulwich after several years away and want to go out to eat locally on one of the evenings but Ive been told all the restaurants are too expensive. Surely there are still places you can get a meal for ?30 a head without drinks? Is the curry cabin still there?
Yes, Curry Cabin is still there. I imagine you could get a good meal for ?30 a head without drinks in any of the many curry houses on Lordship Lane. And just slightly off the beaten track (Forest Hill Road) there is Si Mangia which is a friendly and unpretentious Italian restaurant which I would recommend.
Depends if you just wish to eat or eat well . At Patch and Franklins you could easily come in under budget for 2-course a la carte. Palmerston is a mite more so you'd be bang on budget there. ToastED you'd easily go over. Anywhere else and, in my experience, you're not going to be eating anything particularly memorable. The menu at French House looks very tempting and reasonably priced although I've not yet been.

    • DKH was two form entry, it is now one form entry to cope with the fact it was far more under subscribed than other schools in the area. They had actually combined year groups into single classes, 3/4 and 5/6.  When a school changes name, it’s usually because of a bad reputation perhaps the results.  The new name is dry with no history unlike its current name. It’s a very sketchy decision. It’s an expensive vanity project for someone.  What  will happen if the name change does not increase applications to the school?
    • @first mate I assume Alice made a mistake, as she removed her reaction.  I was wondering about park wardens. As I said, there was one there last night, who was incredibly helpful and proactive. As well as bringing me to the police, he caught up with a young guy on a bike who'd earlier been the victim of an attempted theft by these kids and linked him up with the police too. But I do wonder, as I've only very occasionally seen him riding around, how many they have and what hours they patrol. I've no doubt they'd be a strong deterrent if they had a better presence. They were nowhere to be seen the first time around.  Update: I've just found this: https://services.southwark.gov.uk/community-safety/community-wardens The guy in the photo at the bottom of the page was the lovely warden of last night and I've just now remembered him telling me he's based in Burgess Park. Anyway, there needs to be more of them, as I rarely see one in Peckham.
