We have a 12 week old baby and we are looking at nurseries (bit late given usual

Waiting lists etc!)

A friend recommended Piplings on Peckham Rye but despite sending them an email and calling every other day for 2 weeks, I still haven't managed to get in touch with anyone to arrange a tour or talk about the waiting list.

Anyone have any comments about the admin there generally? Is it overall pretty inefficient? And was my friend right to be so positive in the first place? I'm beginning to have my doubts...

Be good to hear any views.

Thanks.

Can't your friend put a word in for you at Piplings if she can recommend it and move things along? Does sound like the nursery might be busy but two weeks is a long time to wait for a response back. Maybe go and knock on their door if you're local?

Meanwhile, have you thought about a nanny/childminder for your baby (whether 12 weeks or older) as they can offer the same service?

I've pm'd you.

Hi- the admin is dreadful but I hear the care is very good.

As with all nurseries the demand is huge. I've just had an email from them telling me there will be no nursery places available in September 2015, despite being on the waiting list already for about 8 months. I honestly don't know who is getting the places but it's crazy. Given the demand round here I'm surprised there aren't existing providers seeing an opportunity for expansion!

It's hugely frustrating the lack of communication- I'm afraid the only advice is keep getting in touch! Good luck!

    • Ohh dear.  Fireworks can be great fun.  Where I used to live the kids would have firework wars/games.  Watching them was more enjoyable than watching  TV. (Which you could hardly hear due to the pops and bangs).  It's not like anyone/anything could stop them. I would still prefer organised public displays that are affordable.   And I agree that fireworks cause problems for wild life, pets and people.   It seems to be one of those things that just happens so we have to put up with it.  But it is still not as problematic here as in other areas in London - that's for sure.

    • Ugly...maybe..does it bother me..NO! I think its somehow reassuring to see theres still phoneboxes around. East Dulwich may well be getrified but there may well be some elderly people who don't have mobiles and kids who may have lost theirs adults ditto etc etc. I'd rather keep it than lose it...just because i don't use it does'nt mean its not needed.  there are many eyesores in the modern world not all of them as potentially useful.
    • I strongly recommend Balayage salon in Lordship lane as everytime I visit, they make me feel very spicial with thier profisionalism and care.   I have been going there for the last 10 years maybe more, and will never exchange them for any other. They are profisional, welcoming and they also always have an offer. I feel like a new woman every time. X
