Girly friends

Hi,

I have lived in ED for the last year and I love it here but I don't know many people in the area. There is much to see and do in ED so I wanted to see if there are any ladies out there in a similar position? If so it would be great to go for drinks, dinner, coffee etc?

I am 29, working in sales and marketing. I'm really friendly and sociable so let me know if you're interested and we can arrange a get together soon!

Thanks :)

I've lived in the area for a while but friends who used to live here are now scattered across London so I'd love to meet some locals. I'm not free this Saturday but if anyone here fancies arranging something for another day I'd be up for that...

I'm freelance and sometimes around during the week so if anyone else here is too and would like to meet for a coffee give me a shout.

Hey ladies,

Sorry for the delay-it's great to see so many responses :)

Thursday 20th at 7.30 at the Actress pub sounds fab!I'll look forward to it.

Vivien27-I'll reserve a few tables under the 'ED Forum'?

This is very much an open invite so the more the merrier!

I've also been in touch with a few girls and we were thinking of having a drink on Sunday evening at the great exhibition, around 7 if anyone wants to join?

Looking forward to meeting you all x

If any of you are of a crafty persuasion you could always come to the StichED and BitchED session tomorrow (now tonight actually, I'm having a bit of trouble sleeping) at The Cherry Tree. If you can't knit or crochet and would like to then we can teach you how. We'll be there from 7:30 and always love to meet new people.

Hi Missy1 sorry only just seen the post so didn't know about the 27th. Sounds like a good idea to organise something for after the New Year.

Au'Lait I've been meaning to drop into the group the next time I have a Tuesday night free! I'm still very much a basic knitter (I can only list a scarf, blanket and booties in my repertoire!) but it would be great to meet you all and get some tips!

Hello all,

Just started on the forum and seen this thread - are there any people meeting in between Christmas and New Year?

I've lied in ED for about a year and a half and am now freelance and working from home quite a bit so would love to meet some more people in the area!

Zoe

Hi Zoe,

Sounds like quite a few of us in the same position! I'm working quite a lot between Christmas and New Year but Cathy and I were planning to arrange a date in the New Year. I'm not sure if anyone else is around before that but we'll defo organise something in Jan.

Merry Christmas all!

Jade x

    • https://www.assistancedogs.org.uk/information-hub/assistance-dogs-emotional-support-dogs-and-therapy-dogs/   hello   i’d be interested to understand if anyone.has experience of Assistance Dogs especially for autistic children of different ages for emotional support and therapy   There was a prior thread on this topic on EDF 10 hrs ago but it had limited experiences and there was a (claimed) change in UK legislation in 2019. Whilst the industry appears unregulated/unlicensed, there are several providers (approx 15, perhaps more) who claim to have fully trained dogs or say that they can help families to train a puppy/young dog over the 18-24 months.  The latter obviously comes with a need for strong commitment to the challenge. Costs for a fully trained assistance dog are quoted at £13-15k albeit they claim £23k total cost to train the dog. On the one hand, this could potentially be a useful solution for some families if such a dog was truly trained as their websites claim and such a dog was accepted in public places and schools etc… On the other hand, I don’t think that I’ve ever seen an assistance dog of this type or in this context (only for a blind or partially sighted person) and hence a real risk of fraud or exploitation! The SEN challenge for families coupled with limited resources in schools or from local authorities or the NHS as well as the extremely challenging experience of many families with schools offering little or no support or making the situation worse leaves a big risk of lots of different types of fraud and or exploitation in this area.
    • Hi there  We live on Woodwarde Road backing on to Alleyns Top Field.  Our cat Gigi has gone missing — it’s been about 24 hours now. She is a cream Bengal. Could you please check sheds, garages, or anywhere she might have got stuck please? And if you could keep an eye out or share on any local groups/forums, we’d really appreciate it. Photo attached.   Thanks so much! My name is Jeff on 07956 910068.
    • Colin.    One for the old school.   Just saying.
    • Signed, and I will share it elsewhere, thank you for posting this. It's got nearly 70,000 signatures at present, and apparently runs till February.
