Hi Gizzy

Nice to see another "rugger bugger" on the forum. (if that sounded ra then take as sarcasm). I personally play for Old Elthamians in Chislehurst (play in London 3 SE) as I have ties there (and it's a great club if you don't mind a short drive). Having said that the best local club I know of is Old Alleynians. Really nice clubhouse and good pitches (I'll avoid commenting on the changing rooms but most rugby clubs have this issue!). They play in Surrey 1 I believe so the standard is average but also competitive.

Any other rugby players on the forum???

Hi,

I'm a Welshman who coaches London Exiles who play in Surrey 1 but lives very happily in ED. The club trains on Wednesdays and play home matches in Barnes (not ED, but most clubs playing in Surrey 1 are west along the A3 anyway). We also run a seconds and Vets. If you're interested, let me know and I can provide further info - or have a look at our website.

Cheers,

Richard

you could also try King's College Hospital rfc - they've got a decent first team and suitably casual and sporting 2nd / 3rd teams, also, the griffin training ground in dulwich village is pretty nice also.

Along with the King's College Rugby club, its one of the oldest clubs in the UK and was a founding member of the rugby fottball union.

The Peckham Panthers were started by a very good friend of mine - one of the many other Mumbles and Swansea exiles in SE22 - and she's very dedicated, devoting a hell of a lot of time to the club. I'm sure she'd love to welcome some new recruits - the website is http://www.peckhampanthersrfc.co.uk/

There's a bit of a Welsh presence at the Old Alleynians, too. We get everywhere, boyo.
