demolish or recycle laptops?

We have a couple of 5 yr old working laptops - do we recycle (if so, where / to whom?) or demolish? (Southwark doesn't seem to have a computer recycling unit). Advice please!

The computer specialist shop on Pellatt Road usually seems happy to take old laptops to recycle (he extracts useful components as far as I know).

you can drop your laptop off in Sydenham Community Library anytime it is open - which is Mon (9.30-5) Tue (9.30-7) Thur (9.30-7) Sat (930-5).

It is at 206 Sydenham Road, SE26 5SE.
