Hi. Does anyone know how to go about sorting out a future nanny getting their DBS check done? We have a nanny starting in January and we are trying to arrange ofsted registration, but apparently she needs to have her DBS check done first. Does anyone have any experience of doing this, and if so, how did you go about it? Any advice gratefully received! Many thanks in advance!

Not had to do this for a nanny, but my university students have to have these for clinical placements. I think the process would be similar.

Search the gov.uk site for disclosure barring service check, and follow the directions. You can do this yourself from the government website, no need for a third party service.

I've recently applied for a DBS check for my 16 year old daughter as I'm a registered childminder.

You go online, fill out details, have to pay ?52.10 and print off a Identity Checking Form which you have to show to a responsible person (there's a list of these on the form) with 3 forms of ID and has to be somebody the applicant has known for at least a year (a teacher in daughter's case). One it's signed by the responsible person and sent off you get your certificate.

Still waiting for this but then there's another ?13 to pay every year to keep it updated.

    • ...and so, 4 years on from the "dramatic planning meeting" that approved the "meganursery", how has it all worked out in reality? The building looks nice from the outside - but I don't know anything more. Did either of the nursery businesses on EDG fail because there was no demand for nursery places in East Dulwich? Did Carmageddon on East Dulwich Grove get worse? Were pre-COVID work patterns abandoned forever (lol)? Were some of the concerns expressed in opposition to the planning application a teensy bit overblown...? https://southwarknews.co.uk/area/southwark/mega-nursery-approved-amid-dramatic-planning-meeting/
