Hi, Im looking for a weekday morning Messy Play session suitable for a 2 year old, can anybody recommend one? And/or any Montessori style playgroups with different learning activities? East Dulwich or Forest Hill preferably. Many thanks.

Hi P!

Have you been to the Kilmorie Children's Centre stay and play on a Wednesday morning at 9.30am? It's not Montessori, but has very good activities, they limit numbers going in (and I mean really limit and you have to pretty much queue from just after 9am which is annoying) and always includes a messy play tuff tray (e.g. jelly, cornflakes, sand, pasta etc) plus a soft play corner and lots of other toys and activities, snacks and then I think songs and outside play at the end but I usually leave a bit early. Sometimes DH takes V as it's my PhD working day on Wednesdays. It's worth a go and is a mere 50p (explains the popularity!).

Thanks bluesuperted! That sounds great, I didn't really mean strictly montessori but activity based as opposed to a lot of broken toys scattered around! I may give that a try, although I don't think I can get there before 9.30 prob more like 9.45 xxx

    • We were hoping to have a meal at Monkatsu  last night (Sunday), after having been out all day. Online information gave the closing time as 10pm. We got there around 8.30pm and they wouldn't give us a table because "the kitchen closes in half an hour." Surely it doesn't take half an hour to make a meal? We've never had to wait that long when we've eaten there before. Has anybody else had this happen? We ended up going home and getting a delivery, which wasn't how we had envisaged the end of a nice day 🙄
    • That place did only have pizzas on the menu, to the best of my recollection. We ate there once, the pizzas were ok but the room was not exactly atmospheric. Il Mirto has  a lot of pasta dishes on the menu,  but that also never seems busy. It's small and out of the way,  and easily forgotten if you're looking for somewhere to eat, I suppose.
