Jewellery craftsperson advice sought

Hi

Can anyone advise with this please: a very elderly friend lost all of her vintage jewellery in a burglary which was obviously devastating.

The other day she showed me these two bits of an ornate belt she had. It had broken and these two pieces were separate. What she wants to do is to make them into brooches and asked if I could assist. I took them to a jeweller and he said the ''metal'' is some sort of composite thing which would not lend itself to a pin being soldered on the back and that I should try super glue. This didn't work. I wonder if anything can be done or should I return the pieces to her as undo-able? The ''metal'' is very flexible - the two link chains just bent off.

Thanks in advance for any tips on what could be done or who could be approached and how much it would cost.
