I used to teach at Sedgehill school, Lewisham, I know several families from the ed area sent their children there. It is by no means a failing school, it was affected by the exam changes in 2014 which had an impact on GCSE results in the same way other schools nationally did however, they are on track for their best results ever in 2015, yet Lewisham council have served notice to remove the governing body and are taking steps to make it an academy school instead of the thriving community school it is. This will have a huge impact on students, staff and the community and may also have far reaching effects across the borough. There has been a great deal in the local press, please have a read and consider signing the petition http://www.change.org/p/mayor-of-lewisham-save-sedgehill-school/suggested_petitions to show the mayor of London that this is not what the community wants.
