Any suggestions as to where I can donate a kid's bike and hopefully make somebody's Christmas a bit happier? It's a 16" wheel girl's bike originally bought from Decathlon, in good condition. I checked with the folks at the hostel on Barry Road but they thought a bit problematic due to space limitations etc. I could just stick it on here but I'm afraid past experience has made me a bit cynical and I suspect many things given away are re-sold in due course. Thanks

Perhaps you could try contacting either the Peckham Food Bank or the Salvation Army in Camberwell. Both take donations of other items and may take extras at Christmas time or, if not, know of a charity that does. They have been really helpful when I have wanted to donate items in the past.

    • I don't think you'd be a busybody, gently telling them that you'd noticed that they put their rubbish in bags and the collection team can refuse to empty the bin for this reason. If you have a good enough relationship where you can ask to put your rubbish in their bin, surely you can mention that you had noticed?
    • You don't want to hopefully politely explain not to use a black bag in the recycling for fear of seeming a busybody yet are quite happy to snoop inside their bin? 😂🤣😂
    • I wish the guide mentioned that recycling should be loose inside the blue bin. My next door neighbour bags it in a black bin bag and id feel like too much of a busybody to tell them that’s not right.    (I know as I put some extra recycling in their bin once, and have checked a few times since to see if it was a one off)
    • Great value and surprised neither went.  Maybe time of year when people aren't feeling very active. Or perhaps people are too posh round here nowadays to buy second hand, even when 'as new'.
