Where can I get rid of a broken inkjet printer?

Is taking it to the dump the only option? Or is there anywhere closer to home/more environmentally friendly I can take it?

There is a London-wide 'Mobile Recycling Service' - a token gesture in the form of a van with bins in it - that pitches up roughly according to the timetable posted here:

You can take printers and other small appliances to it. But where it says Dulwich Library, it means the car park of the Plough. It also says 10am to 1pm, but it's safer to assume 11am to noon.

My old printer fitted exactly into the hole in the electrical appliance recycling thing on Peckham Rye next to the cafe.

I think Southwark will come and collect it if you call them - don't know how ethical their recycling is though?

Leave it outside with the rubbish bins with a note saying please take.

Someone Might take it. or if you are lucky the weekly Refuse Collection Team might take it.

The dump isn't a landfill but a recycling centre - so if it won't fit in the small electrical appliances box you can just hand it in there for recycling. They do cartridge recycling too although you might be able to sell used cartridges on eBay or donate them to charity instead. I went for the first time just before christmas and thought it all seemed very well organised with very helpful staff.
