I'm due to go back in work in approx 3 months and am looking for recommendations on good nursery schools or child minders in the local area for my 9 month old baby girl. If anyone has their little ones attending somewhere close to lordship lane/ East Dulwich area it would be great to hear.

Expect long waiting lists for nursery!! Get the name down for a few until you Decide what to do.

I had my son in a nursery ( 4 years ago)

Advantages:

1- well looked after in a great environment where there is a routine and structure

2- no need to buy lots of toys at home as most will be available at nursery

3- more reliable setting and no issue with nanny beig sick.

4- you know the cost in advance

5- kids get a social life and play with friends

Disadvantages:

1- your kid is out of the house every day regardless of whether. Also out on street late with you

2- no chores done at home.. No meal ready and no laundry done!

3- lots of sickness - well it does improve

Immunity

4- you wil have to miss work when kid is not allowed at nursery until sickness cleared

Hello I don't quite fit to your time scale but if you had flexibility I will have a space from the beginning of June. I'm a registered childminder, married, with 2 children of my own. ( 7 year old girl and nearly 4 year old boy)I have other children in my care too.

I live on Overhill road, the lordship lane end of the street in a house with a garden and a covered side yard for outdoor play in wet weather.

We attend lots of groups, parks, classes.

At the moment I am fully booked but from June one of my parents is going back onto maternity leave so will no longer need his space. So I will have availability Monday,Tuesday and Wednesdays from early June.

If this is of any use to you let me know and we can meet for a coffee and a chat, Leanne

    • If you want to self cater and do it yourself, why not try one of the rooms in a church..  one I am thinking about has a huge room with kitchen and toilets… parking on site.. and another one worth considering is the church near Dulwich Library , top of Barry Road..  pm if you want more info and of course.. all the pubs on Lordship Lane. if you want further afield, Rosendale Pub has rooms above bar area that you can also hire…  Alleyns Head also good - section off a section of the pub for  your sole use and parking on site.. although, might not work if try want to dance and play there own music. Kingwood House might also be worth considering…
    • Upstairs at The Castle in Crystal Palace Road is a nice space. It has been refurbished. It has a small bar and a small dance space. Robert the landlord is helpful and friendly, as are the bar staff. I will PM you.
    • Hi. Trying to find a small venue for an 18th birthday, any suggestions? Everything’s really expensive.
    • Thank you both. That's really helpful. Will see if we have the budget left next year when we've finished some other work on the house, but would love to do this.
