madasahat
The Dulwich Players are excited to stage a new translation of Federico Garc?a Lorca?s masterpiece The House of Bernarda Alba from 18-21 February (8pm) at the Edward Alleyn Theatre. Obsessed with respectability and honour, Bernarda Alba rules her house with a rod of iron. Her second husband has just died and in line with family tradition she declares an eight-year period of mourning, effectively incarcerating her daughters. Feelings run high when it is discovered not only that the eldest daughter from Bernarda's first marriage has inherited a large amount of money, but that she is now set to marry the most eligible man in the village, Pepe el Romano, who has transferred his affections from the headstrong youngest daughter, Adela, to the much older Angustias. Despite warnings, Bernarda refuses to see the destructive forces at play within her household until it is too late. A powerful and compelling new translation of Lorca's master work.
