Private schools results at primary level (practical question).

Hi All -

State primary schools publish the number of kids achieving various levels at KS2, and this is easily found.

Is there somewhere an equivalent source of information for private schools?

I'm after very specific practical advice, rather than an abstract discussion on different types of education.

Surely this would be in each school's own brochure / website and doesn't the Times publish an annual guide to independent schools?

The ISI reports seem to be qualitative, which is fine, but I'm specifically looking for % >lvl 5/6 @ KS2 in the various categories (or equivalent), as published by state schools.

Ah, OK.

Yes - that seems to be a good one for high school results (IB, A Levels, GCSE), but the primary school results are quite vague (or I'm missing something really obvious).

Best I can find are lists based on which high schools the kids progress to.

I don't think many private schools do any KS tests!

Perhaps if you contact the schools directly? I remember JAPS handed out information at their open day about the percentage of girls achieving national levels and above.

Alleyns Junior School provide the info on their website. I would email the schools and ask for that information, surely they have got it.

Unless an all-through school, expect most emphasise and have lists on request of the number of entries to popular, selective private and state secondaries.

If they don't follow the national curriculum then presumably they aren't doing SATS so wouldn't have the info to publish?

Thanks all - some good tips. I guess the problem is that the comparison isn't usually like for like (esp. for prep schools, which have a different mandate). The Alleyns KS2 results are excellent.

Well of course they're excellent when you are selective in the first place and then 'ask' those children to leave who aren't up to scratch.
