This thread reminds me that I had a good year in 2011. Which makes me feel better, it must have been 2010 when I lost the house and the car the wife and the kids.

Also just looked back to 2009 - found this so 2009 was a good year too:

Just recovering from hangover. Ladbrokes were doing an unbelievably generous new account bet yesterday - Offering a free ?200 bet for ?100 invested. A friend and myself split it between us and put the whole ?300 on Kauto Star. Great horse and anyone who saw it win the King George on boxing day would not have had any doubts. .

I was just about to start a Cheltenham Festival thread when I saw this one!

I can't wait, massive racing fan! Although Cheltenham is first I am off to Kempton the week after, love it live.

Looking at the first race, I quite fancy the 6/1 shot Steps to Freedom I think its called.

Have you all got your Cheltenham betting budgets ready? I've just doubled mine by signing up with Bet365 and got ?100 free bet...Why not! Link below

    • Ah sorry, it was comedy.
    • I have never used AI in my life. It's just notes from my forthcoming monograph on light industry in Dulwich and Camberwell 1879-1946 (dates chosen for obvious reasons).
    • Thank you, this really made me chuckle. It's like you met my brother as he would be the one taking more than his share. Plus the 'pikey' chutney is a winner. Unusual as in can't be identified??? Sadly I'm not the host otherwise I would definitely do that I regularly shop in the Cheese Block and am a fan. But as people have pointed out, there is no cheese shop that charges less based on bulk, so Aldi unusual cheeses may be what the familam receive! Yay, so I can get discounted mouse nibbled cheese still! Oooo, now I do love a Stinking Bishop. It actually offends my stepmum by it's stinkiness but luckily she is not one of the attendees at this particular gathering.  This is blooming genius. It's actually my partner who has the biggest issue with buying in plastic so I will have to hide the wrappers from him!
