I don't see the point in buying Tinned Tomatoes to make homemade soup?

Tinned tomatoes are processed and have added sugar and salt and possibly Basil.

Buy fresh tomatoes for homemade soup..

If you are buying tinned tomatoes you might as well buy tinned tomato soup.

Seabag, I keep hearing about San Marzano tomatoes so I splashed out on Morrison's own brand (a whopping ?1.50 per can or thereabouts!) I couldn't tell the difference between them and say, napolina bog standard plum tomatoes. Quite disapppointing. Maybe I need to seek out a proper brand.

I bought some budget plum tomatoes, oooh a saving of 20p, in a green can. Not only did they not have that handy pull ring thing to get the lid off, they were so bad they had to be thrown in the bin. Tinny and bitter. I hate wasting food and usually make the best of something but these could not be salvaged.

    • Ash tree branch. Before speculating as to cause and whether it was deliberate or not, it’s worth remembering that there is ash dieback around. Also tree branches fall off without warning, especially if there’s internal rot or disease which is not outwardly apparent. And yes, there are regular checks done on the health of the trees in the Wood.
    • Dulwich folk well particularly ED folk have more money than certainly me - £4.00 for bread and butter? That is outrageous and I certainly would not pay £30 for an organic chicken - weird one is pate and runner beans combo. Don’t think butcher on Lordship Lane charges that but each to their own - live in Devon now and no way is an organic chicken that price!!
    • I was sitting on the park bench yesterday opposite north Dulwich station and found an Apple Watch hanging off the corner. I have brought it home and charged it hoping that someone might use ‘find my’ to locate it. Equally happy to be contacted this way to return it to the rightful lender / they just need to say what colour/kind of strap it has. If you can think of a better way to return it / find its owner then please advise. And/or feel free to share on other local fora.
