Hello,

I'm trying to work out costs for childcare for when I return to work.

Can anyone tell me how much it costs to have a childminder do wraparound care, either drop off around 8 and pick up at midday, or drop off at 8, pick up at 3.

Also, has anyone had any luck finding a childminder who will do wraparound for a toddler, combined with whole day with baby sibling, or will I need to look for 2 different childminders?

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks,

Laura

My CM does full day for my 16m old & wraparound for my 4.5yr preschooler (who does 9-12 at preschool). I have to pay full day rate for my daughter (?60 per day inc lunch & dinner), which is fair enough as the CM can't look after another child in the 3hrs she's not there. Plus with negotiated holidays, I get some cover for school holidays - probably helped by me being in a training/student position at the mo so have some annual leave matching sch hols.

Am sure most CM's would rather a sibling pair were together than separated, but guess it would depend on their capacity/existing kids.

My CM does wrap around care for my nearly 4 year old and looks after my 17 month old all day. I purposely found one near my daughter's nursery where she goes from 9am-4pm and so i drop both kids with CM at 8 and she takes daughter to nursery and picks her up and then I collect them at 6pm. I pay ?80 per day (?55 for my son all day and then ?24 (?8/hr) for my daughter) and sometimes she'll have her all day in holidays and I just pay the extra to top it up to a full day. I do also pay for nursery though at ?40 per day so all in it's not the cheapest option I guess.

And whichever you chose, are you glad you did it that way? We're struggling to decide layout. We want to maximise light and 'niceness' of rooms rather than boxy and dark. Any reflections are most welcome.

It wasn't on a parade of shops but was on maybe Whateley Rd – or possibly Goodrich?? I used to walk past it when heading home from work and would drop in for a cheap bottle of Hungarian plonk. Someone tell me I'm not dreaming this... 🙂
