Locale was an Italian restaurant which has branches In Fulham and Blackheath.. Both Affluent areas.

The Dulwich branch did not work. I used to drink there. The restaurant was always empty..

Perhaps 'Real' Italian food is not as popular as a handful of people here on EDF would make it out to be.

For me, Italian Cuisine is probably the most boring of all Cuisines. But that's just me.

and yes before anyone says it..yes "I don't have to go there."

I still haven't found an Italian restaurant in ED that can hold a candle to Hannah's IMOP

I SHALL await this new opening with great expectations whilst mourning the move of Koz to beckenham, where I can't just nip up the road for chicken with spinach, pancake and cream (koz special)

Locale was awful ! I had a lasagne there once, it was two layers of pasta swimming around in a bit of tomato sauce with a few bits of mince, the sides of the plate were spattered with burnt sauce from where it was put in a micro wave. We got the manager over and he tried to tell me it was how authentic lasagne was served. I then told him he was trying to pull the wool over the wrong person being a chef who worked under an often angry sicilian head chef, who would have kicked him right in the "Puglia's" if he'd heard that ! It was then we got a free bottle of wine :)

Sad to see Koz go, I've had a couple of birthdays there and the owner always shook me by the hand when I went in and showed us to our table.

Be interested to see what the new place brings to the Lane.

Koz was so busy, the food was delicious and service came with a smile. I'm so sad to see it go.

I do love pasta so I'm glad to see an Italian (not just pizza) restaurant opening. Wish it was in addition to Koz though.

Koz takeaway & Oddono's & wine from La Cave de Bruno = good night in!

    • Unfortunately there are two ways of examining this, if we even had the figures. The first is simply to look at the revenues paid to the Council and see if the costs (in terms of setting it up and recovery from it, including administrative cost) are less than the revenues. This would be quite simple to do assuming we could agree the proper allocation of those costs. But additionally we have the amenity cost to those Southwark residents either (a) losing amenity value through e.g. disruption, and secondly losing amenity value by being excluded from parts of a public park for an extended period in summer. That is not a fiscal cost to the council and clearly they don't give a damn, but that would be the only way of judging whether this event was of overall net benefit to Southwark residents, the only people who the council should be 'working' for. Don't hold your breaths.

And then to make double sure the discontent was suppressed, it threatened kids who wanted to demonstrate with police action. The kids at the time said: "Dulwich College has for years totally ignored, dismissed and condoned by turning a blind eye, this predatory behaviour by students... A protest was students’ only way to pressure the headmaster to actually tackle the sexual violence at his school.” The march by pupils of several schools was advertised on social media as “a demonstration against the predatory culture of Dulwich College and the school management [which] condones it". https://www.theguardian.com/education/2021/mar/26/dulwich-college-head-warns-pupils-over-culture-protest
