  1. Hi My son was born in August 2022. Please can anyone help me get onto the WhatsApp group for summer 2022 babies? Thank you 😊
  2. I hear you! We seem to lose our water supply at least once a quarter? It’s become part of the routine over the years. Sometimes we get a warning, most of the time we don’t. I don’t understand why it’s a repeated problem. The water wasted is also astonishing.
  3. Thank you so much Joe for taking over and saving the forum! and also for modernising it. I hope you enjoy running it and we don’t make it too stressful for you 😊

It?s a shame that the bays aren?t marked. The lamp post chargers are inconspicuous so it?s not surprising that people park in front of them.
  5. Hi, I?ve lived on Dunstans for 12 years. It?s quiet here. I love being close to the parks/green spaces (Dulwich Park, Peckham Rye, Dawson?s hill, Sydenham woods, Horniman). It?s easy to walk to Dulwich Village and Lordship Land shops. I don?t notice school traffic noise but I?m not that close to the school. The views over London are stunning. If you walk to the top of Dawson?s hill you can see the views and many of us have these views from our properties. It?s quick to get to Forest hill station or Peckham Rye station in 10-15 minutes by bus. It?s a lovely part of Dulwich to live in xx
  6. We did too on Dunstans road and Upland road. We had a total blackout for a brief moment.
  7. I'm giving away my exercise bike. Even though it's been used regularly, it's still in very good condition. I had bought insurance for it but never had to use it. I bought it from Argos a few years ago with the promise that I'd upgrade if I used it often enough. I just kept using it but now I'm ready for my upgrade. It's by Elevation Fitness. If you know you are going to use the bike regularly then I'd spend the cash to get a better quality bike. If you are just starting out or want to test the waters without a big outlay then buy a cheaper bike or get mine for free. Pm if you want it. Thanks
  8. Hi Everyone. I know I'm late to contribute to this thread and I hope tomskip, that your Son was able to get his repeat prescription. If you need a repeat prescription there are a number of mobile apps you can use to request the prescription and get the meds sent directly to your home e.g. Echo (recently acquired by Lloyds Pharmacy), Co-op Health. I use have used Echo for the last 6 months and it's been brilliant. If you are interested I've written this article ways you can order your repeat prescription online or via app. I hope it's helpful https://www.yourtrustedsquad.com/post/healthcare-apps-simple-quick-and-convenient-ways-to-order-your-nhs-repeat-prescription-online
  9. Hi everyone I highly recommend Dave. I've been using his services for years (5 or 6 years). He's done numerous jobs from wallpapering, to window frosting, putting up heavy mirrors, painting etc etc. He always does an excellent job and does it with far better quality than other handymen I've used (all of whom I've found on the ED forum). Overall Dave's work is reliable, his price is very reasonable and he's a really great guy! I enjoy talking to him and feel comfortable around him. I've recommended him to my friends as has my husband. Take care Bil
  10. Thames water are aware of the problem.
  11. We aren't getting water. We are at the other end (Dunstans/Upland)
  12. Hi all I'd appreciate your help please. We have a utility room in our ground floor. The floor is covered with tiles and the internal manhole cover which provides access to the drain/sewer below is also covered over with tiles. We need to get access to the manhole asap as we have been experiencing foul smells from the drain and we have drain flies. I'm also worried that vermin has entered the wall/ceiling. The guy from the drain company accessed the drain from the back garden but said he needs to access from that particular area in the utility room (towards the front of the house) as he thinks there has been damage. He said a hatch/hinged recessed internal manhole cover should have been fitted to allow access and we need to get one fitted. I'd like to know if anyone has had something like this done in their house? Whether anyone can recommend someone who can do this? Whether any tradesmen have experience of doing this and can quote/provide references? I've attached 1. a photo of the area in our house and 2. a photo of what we need. Thank you in advance for your help.
  13. I was gutted when I went to order a curry online from the Dulwich branch of the Rajah rowing club (my favourite local curry place) a couple of weeks ago. I went to their website as usual but the Dulwich branch was no longer on their list of branches. I had to order from somewhere else which was expensive and disappointing. Anyway when visiting the Sainsbury?s local I saw that the Dulwich branch is still open!! Yay! I went in to order! Turns out that they have changed website. So just in case you did not know and you also thought they had ceased business. https://rajahrowing.com/
  14. It?s so convenient to be able park outside your house or on the road where you live but council tax (and road tax)is the same for everyone in that area (within the relevant bands) and isn?t specific to the road you live on. I can see why people would only want to consider their own convenience but it?s fundamentally unfair to introduce CPZ?s unless everyone in that area gets the same access. Most CPZ?s create a two tier system where people who live in the CPZ pay to park but people outside of the zone, especially those who live in the same postcode or borough and pay the same council tax, have to pay more to park in the CPZ. I don?t understand why I pay the same council tax as the people near Bellenden road or once the CPZ is introduced, Lordship lane but to go to a restaurant on these roads I have to pay more to park my electric car or scooter for 2 hours than they do to park their car for 1 week. Remember these parking charges affect scooters too. Kensington and Chelsea have a system where any resident who had a permit can park anywhere in the borough. That?s a fairer system. It?s appalling to tell people they are lazy because they don?t walk or cycle to the shops. You never truly know the reasons, anxieties and situations as to why people make their choices. Some people with significant physical and mental impairments but not severe disability won?t qualify for a blue badge. I live on Dunstans road so for me it?s quick and easy to whizz down the hill to Lordship lane on my bike and it?s really nice in the sunshine but it?s a tough long long steep sweaty incline to get back home and harder when it?s raining or windy. I imagine it wouldn?t be easy to do with children or lots of shopping or with my dad. Frequent daily shopping might not be an option for everyone so they are more likely to use online options which will affect local business. I have a number of friends that live in CPZ?s across London including Southwark. They?ve received parking tickets on a number of occasions because in the evening/night they?ve parked on the single yellow line when there wasn?t parking space in the bay near their house and then forgot to move it on time in morning when the CPZ restarted. This is more likely if you don?t use your car to commute to work. If the residents bays are full because there genuinely aren?t enough spaces for residents or they are full up during the hours that the CPZ is not in action then this could easily happen to anyone if they forget to set a reminder to get up to move the car. I?d like to see Southwark working with TfL to improve public transport for all of us as well as encouraging and supporting greener options (more electric car charging points, secure bike parking for all bikes not just people who live on the road, secure moped parking etc). Maybe the money from the CPZ that they ?reinvest? could be used to introduce a free bike hire scheme for all residents. We don?t have Santander bikes despite being in zone 2.
  15. Hi Sue In my opinion and experience DMC has improved dramatically particularly gaining access to clinical advice and overall better communication. It?s easier to book appointments, view results and order repeat prescriptions online. You can also use the eConsult service which is good for routine/non urgent matters. You can go onto their website, complete a questionnaire and then doctor calls you back within 1-2 days.If it?s an admin issue they complete it and let you know. I used to get so frustrated when I knew that I didn?t need to see a doctor but was still advised to book a face to face appointment and then no appointments were available. Sometimes I?d call repeatedly for an hour in the morning and eventually get through to be told there weren?t any appointments. Recently I had some blood tests and I received a text the next day to say that the results were fine. I?ve always liked the doctors at DMC which is why I stayed registered with the practice despite the irritations at the overall service. Now I?m glad I was patient as the improvements have made a real difference. GP turnover might be unchanged though as most of the doctors are young and move on for various reasons.

We only > ever hear of one side though. Racism is not a two way thing! What side do you only hear of? The side where people are oppressed, treated unfairly, unable to get jobs and similar opportunities just because of the colour of their skin? Racism is fundamentally about people from a race believing they are superior to another race and treating those people as inferior to themselves. Racism is much deeper than using skin colour in a sentence to insult/attack someone. I'm sorry Cles was attacked. This should never happen to anyone, I wish our streets were safe and people would stop hurting each other.
  18. we need more; only 2 on-street public charging points in East Dulwich. I considered buying an electric Smart car but it wouldn't have been practical.
  19. Maybe it was just a bad day. I usually receive good service in local shops from independent and larger retail shops such as M&S.
  20. could try clift joinery https://cliftjoinery.co.uk/. I've used them for sash window replacement but not front doors.I'd recommend them though.
  21. I second this statement. My hubby and I both had Eggs Royale at Harri?s kitchen and it was delicious. They had a range of breads and cup cakes which looked yum but we didn?t have space for them. My hubby was happy to have gluten free bread with his eggs too. The patio area is pleasant; catches lots of sun :-)

Hi Indiepanda I thought this was a common issue in houses/flats around the parts of ED on the hill e.g. Dunstans, Upland, Overhill...Maybe I'm wrong. I live in a house (whole not half) and have the same problem. Most of the time the water flow through the shower is OK (never powerful) and during 'rush hour' it can reduce drastically, sometimes just a trickle as you mention. I contacted Thames Water about this years ago and they did some work which improved it but since then it's returned back to how it was (they've done numerous works since so perhaps they undid what they had rectified previously). We fitted a system boiler with cylinder but that made no difference. We will have to consider other alternatives.
  23. Hi all Mike didn't ask me to do this but I wanted to because I was just thinking about how far I've come in the last few months. I strongly recommend training with Mike. First of all he's very enthusiastic and friendly which makes the sessions enjoyable. Also his training is effective and varied so you don't get bored. He also encouraged me to set the pace but he pushed me just enough. I've just made small changes to my diet and now incorporate regular exercise into my schedule. Plus I learned some good techniques (lifting weights- which was one of my personal goals). Wishing you all the best Mike! Thanks!
  24. So sorry to hear about your mothers illness and that your parents were cheated out of significant sums of money. Also hope the criminals are caught!
