  1. I have a SMART car (Low emissions, economical, easy to park) but it really is exhausting and uncomfortable driving over the hard high bumps..red post hill, dunstans road/lordship lane..i think the smart has to go ..
  2. In Lewisham (similar to Greenwich-SophieSofa) I had a large green wheelie bin (and another black wheelie bin for non recycling items). All recycling items were accepted and No sorting necessary! My non recyclable waste was less than half a sack a week. Since I have moved here it has taken one e-mail and two phone calls to get my bag for paper and another (very small) box to take bottles. I am happy to separate the items but I think the container boxes/bags are very small and don't encourage much recycling
  3. Dulwich park and peckham rye park & common are beautiful especially in the summer. Lots of cool cafes on lordship lane, some nice restaurants. lively markets-peckham and northcross road... Dulwich village is also lovely, herne hill is closeby with a lido in the large brockwell park...well kept secret of SE London but still really close to central London for shopping theatres, bromley for shopping etc...people passionate about where they live and wanting to make it better you don't need to go abroad in summer at all!
  4. I should never say always! but is it inappropriate in this case? Colour usually uplifts peoples mood e.g. colourful flowers, clothes, carnival. As long as it is not offensive or detrimental or worse than what was there before, will it harm anyone? or shall we just have useless graffiti and repeated removal? I think the competition to get designs is a good idea
  5. Complain....complain...blah Adding some fun and colour is always a good thing. Streets and walls are so grey or brown. Most graffiti is not pleasant to look at and adds no character. Unfortunately we don't have a Banksy and I agree that design via excel is very bizarre. I have given my contribution (also via excel -i found the squares restrictive; having said that but I am not creative in that way) Tried to say (North x, east dulwich) basically :-O
  6. Do the police offer advice re alarms/DNA kit etc for people who haven't been burgled?
  7. I agree..a picturehouse/cinema or everyman cinema. also faster transport links to central London even faster direct route to elephant, london bridge or victoria would be great -bus takes too long to get anywhere! an M&S would be great(nearest is in Brixton..no original ideas then. overall the area is self sufficient really.
  8. I read it once, I got it from the Magnolia...It was really helpful. I have just moved to the area and was pleased to see the number of community events and also advertising from local services.
  9. Yesterday I saw a man slip backwards and hit his head on the pavement. It was a miracle that he didn't lacerate his scalp! The roads are so icy.....I saw them adding grit to the pavement last week but not since the snow came
