  1. Agreed.... driving is not the best solution, parking is limited and restricted to 4 hours and it isn't that flexible. What would also be ideal is to have a cycle hire scheme locally which provides flexibility and the options to use all the local stations. Demand would be high ... Anyway for now we have no hope for any public transport improvements

I'm surprised by this statement. It's a road and that's enough reason for traffic to go along there. People want to get from A to B.... Unfortunately ED has dreadful transport links which are not going to improve anytime soon (or ever). The useless Southern Railway from ED via peckham to london bridge has ghost trains which disappear from the screen when they are due to arrive and the service mostly unreliable. It takes 1 hour to get into Victoria by bus from ED (the Plough) and you can spend all day getting down walworth road on a bus to Elephant & Castle! Before this recent road closure and the oval cycle highway works, it would take me 20 minutes or possibly 30 during rush hour to get to Victoria. Cycling isn't always practical for some of us (although hopefully improvements are making it safer) Wish TFL would take over Southern railway franchise to bring London overground to ED. I'm disappointed that they have closed off such a large section of Loughborough junction and Myatts Fields to traffic without providing some information on alternative routes. It's chaos now; people keep turning in the road. I'm sure there will be an accident soon.
  3. Rajah Rowing club is great. Food is delicious, tasty and delivered promptly (usually within 10-15 minutes). I love their Butter chicken (which I have a little too often!)
  4. Are any of your neighbours experiencing the problem? There may be a burst pipe nearby. Thames water should be able to assist too.
  5. John Lewis collections are available from 'Little waitrose' branches as well.
  6. Koz was so busy, the food was delicious and service came with a smile. I'm so sad to see it go. I do love pasta so I'm glad to see an Italian (not just pizza) restaurant opening. Wish it was in addition to Koz though. Koz takeaway & Oddono's & wine from La Cave de Bruno = good night in!

Southwark have supported the whole extension map. Regardless the extension, if approved, will definitely go to Lewisham via New Cross Gate (not sure why it's New Cross gate and not New cross which is already on the route to Lewisham, Ladywell etc)
  8. I had to clear some dog mess from outside my house last week! I don't have any pets but since moving to ED I've had to clear up cat mss from my front garden at least weekly and dog mess on a regular basis (It's revolting). It's the same in our parks too. Not nice at all.

Aren't Dulwich park and Dulwich picture gallery are in Dulwich village not West dulwich? Dulwich park borders onto east dulwich too (I live within 5 minutes walk to Dulwich park and don't live in West dulwich.) I personally prefer the SE24 part of Dulwich/bordering on Herne hill (big houses, brockwell park is very nice and herne hill station is one stop from Brixton). ED is probably more interesting place to live but they (ED/WD) are both so close together. We looked at houses in both ED and WD but went for ED as we have peckham rye park/common at the other end of the road, Dulwich park at one end and a dawsons hill (with great views of london) in the middle. Many of the houses in this part (underhill/upland/dunstans) have panoramic views of London as does the Mamora road area too. Some parts of forest hill also have these amazing views which are partly obstructed by Dawsons heights (some don't mind/some do).

  11. Hi all I would like to recommend the new cafe on the Dulwich Grove opposite Dulwich hospital. The staff are incredibly friendly and the cakes are delicious! Enjoy :-)

  13. It is frustrating that the London overground/ELL2 passes directly over Brixton station en route from Denmark hill on its way to Clapham but doesn't stop at Brixton. What a difference that would have made; easy access to the Victoria line. I don't know what the costs would have been to build the platform but seems like it would have or could be a relatively quick win that would benefit many in South East London who use the overground.

However, I think people know > that when they move here - it's not that central. > Camberwell is quite central. I just don't see the > necessity for a tube station in Camberwell. Hi On the contrary, a tube station at Camberwell is important as it would reduce congestion along both the camberwell new road and the walworth road. Presently the options are bus and car or train from Denmark hill. The sheer volume of traffic plus the narrowness of the camberwell new road can make journey times from ED to central London an hour plus by bus (and the distance is only 5 miles or so). At rush hour the buses are bulging with over capacity and it can be a 20 minute wait to get on from the camberwell new road at times. If more people were able to use the tube to get into central London (presumably PAYG or travelcard users) then this could reduce the need for as many bus routes and will reduce overall congestion. I would prefer one even closer like Peckham (as I live in ED) but I do think one in camberwell is essential.
  15. I would also like to recommend Alan from 123 chimney sweeps. He is a really friendly guy, very knowledgeable and cleared two chimneys for us quickly and without too much mess. It's also nice to see the traditional brushes (i was singing 'chim chiminey' all day - in my head of course) Alan 07956 385112 http://www.123chimneysweeps.co.uk/
  16. Hi all I would like to recommend Matt from Urban Tree specialists. He trimmed down a large overgrown elderflower tree in our back garden to make it look very pretty and for a very good price. His price was the most competitive, he came over within 1 hour of my call to provide a quote and he cleared up afterwards too. http://urbantreespecialists.co.uk/ Matt 07788 778312 Cheers
  17. Very very sad. My sentiments to those affected.
  18. The play area at the Herne Tavern was one of several local attractions which brought us to ED and our road (dunstans). We dont have kids yet so we haven't personally used the kids area; but like the pub garden and have never been bothered by the children playing. I often take my friends who have kids and we enjoy a great afternoon in the sun eating and having a few drinks. I will be sad to see this go. I dont know of any other family friendly pub gardens closeby particularly ones that catch the sun all day. The Florence has a room for kids but their beer garden is much smaller.
  19. Does this mean that Conway will be on LL again to install speed humps? The bottom of LL (near co-op and outside The bishop) is now very congested with all the numerous traffic measures in place. Bus journeys to the station take even longer than before.
  20. Clapham high street has both a little waitrose and an Iceland within a few doors of each other. There is a sainsburys across the road and numerous independent shops, a cinema and some high quality restaurants. It is thriving and mixed. Why do we argue that we have to have one or the other? The bottom of LL has become really congested now especially between Oliver Bonas and Co-op. The traffic flow has been brought to near stand-still. Green and blue is empty and there are a few other empty shops. It doesn't have the same vibe and I miss Blue mountain.
  21. I hope M&S do make it onto LL. Maybe the old and empty police station might be another option.
  22. Today our road is lovely and clean (road and pavements)! Thank you Southwark :-)
  23. The tube isn't planning to come to ED is it? There is a possibility of rye common but really the priority needs to be camberwell. The bus routes are slow and heaving with over-capacity in the morning and all of the major bus routes from ED into central go via Camberwell. It's probably faster to jog from Kings to elephant via Walworth road than take the bus.
