  2. It is frustrating that the London overground/ELL2 passes directly over Brixton station en route from Denmark hill on its way to Clapham but doesn't stop at Brixton. What a difference that would have made; easy access to the Victoria line. I don't know what the costs would have been to build the platform but seems like it would have or could be a relatively quick win that would benefit many in South East London who use the overground.

Hi On the contrary, a tube station at Camberwell is important as it would reduce congestion along both the camberwell new road and the walworth road. Presently the options are bus and car or train from Denmark hill. The sheer volume of traffic plus the narrowness of the camberwell new road can make journey times from ED to central London an hour plus by bus (and the distance is only 5 miles or so). At rush hour the buses are bulging with over capacity and it can be a 20 minute wait to get on from the camberwell new road at times. If more people were able to use the tube to get into central London (presumably PAYG or travelcard users) then this could reduce the need for as many bus routes and will reduce overall congestion. I would prefer one even closer like Peckham (as I live in ED) but I do think one in camberwell is essential.
  4. Very very sad. My sentiments to those affected.
  5. The play area at the Herne Tavern was one of several local attractions which brought us to ED and our road (dunstans). We dont have kids yet so we haven't personally used the kids area; but like the pub garden and have never been bothered by the children playing. I often take my friends who have kids and we enjoy a great afternoon in the sun eating and having a few drinks. I will be sad to see this go. I dont know of any other family friendly pub gardens closeby particularly ones that catch the sun all day. The Florence has a room for kids but their beer garden is much smaller.
  6. Does this mean that Conway will be on LL again to install speed humps? The bottom of LL (near co-op and outside The bishop) is now very congested with all the numerous traffic measures in place. Bus journeys to the station take even longer than before.
  7. Clapham high street has both a little waitrose and an Iceland within a few doors of each other. There is a sainsburys across the road and numerous independent shops, a cinema and some high quality restaurants. It is thriving and mixed. Why do we argue that we have to have one or the other? The bottom of LL has become really congested now especially between Oliver Bonas and Co-op. The traffic flow has been brought to near stand-still. Green and blue is empty and there are a few other empty shops. It doesn't have the same vibe and I miss Blue mountain.
  8. I hope M&S do make it onto LL. Maybe the old and empty police station might be another option.
  9. Today our road is lovely and clean (road and pavements)! Thank you Southwark :-)
  10. The tube isn't planning to come to ED is it? There is a possibility of rye common but really the priority needs to be camberwell. The bus routes are slow and heaving with over-capacity in the morning and all of the major bus routes from ED into central go via Camberwell. It's probably faster to jog from Kings to elephant via Walworth road than take the bus.

I agree.. last thing we want is Crossrail 2 to be selected over a much needed South east london tube line because it is receiving more support
  12. When I called them last week they offered me an appointment for this week. I've never had to wait 4 weeks to be seen. Please try them again.
  13. A chocolatier and cake shop (whole cakes and cupcakes). I go to Le Chandelier but they don't always have enough stock. A cinema like Picturehouse. A Japanese restaurant
  14. Garnwba, I'm sorry you had to move to SE5. I hope the move wasn't driven your parking woes near ED station. I presume you always park in designated pay and display car parks and never on a main or side road outside anyone elses house. Otherwise you could be forcing them to park somewhere else and you seemed to have been bothered by this when it affected you. Do you think all roads should be CPZs? or just around the stations that the public need to access to go to work and those who can afford the premium rent/house prices can park because they have an opportunity to pay extra to do so. CPZs prevent people (including council tax payers of which I am one) from parking on certain public roads. Unless a road is a private one or an individual pays specifically for the patch of road outside their own house, anyone who pays council tax SHOULD be able to park freely. If the public transport problem was addressed properly people wouldn't need to drive to the station. I dont drive to ED station (and have only been there twice) but I hope a CPZ isn't introduced anywhere in ED.
  15. When I contacted SE22 magazine I was told that don't deliver to my road. It appears that my road in SE22 isn't SE22 "enough" We get the Living South every month which I do like to read.
  16. Sorry everyone. Here is the link.. http://tfl.gov.uk/cs5

  18. Ah what a lovely post. Welcome and wishing you all the best
  19. where is this pharmacy going to be located?
  20. LondonMix Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Then use the remaining Victoria line service. > There are still direct trains to Victoria from > Peckham... The problem is that the fewer trains that we have, the more congested the trains get. I was at Brixton last week when the lady was hurt on the train. The first train from Herne Hill had been cancelled, we waited 20 minutes for the next one but it was so full and we were all desperate not to have to wait another 15 minutes so everyone squeezed on. It was tense and appalling really. All it takes is for one of those trains to be cancelled to increase commuter tension. Considering the amount of money we pay to travel, I don't think it is unreasonable to expect a service that delivers a decent frequency of trains to take us to work.
  21. Thanks such a shame though...
  22. Thanks for that Does anyone know why Brixton wasn't included in the ELL2? It looks like the train will have to pass through it to get to Clapham high street

I still experience a wait of 20-30 minutes for a bus from LL to Denmark hill or ED. (this happened last week and I had even checked the live departures on TFL before I left). I live past dulwich library and don't use FH or HOP mainly because they are in zone 3 (extra cost). The only bus that goes to HOP (P13) from where I live arrives infrequently. There is no direct bus to herne hill or brixton. The bus 63 can't find its way to HOP station. Yesterday I waited for the 9.21 train from ED. It was apparently delayed until 9.33 (when the next train was due)The 9.33 arrived at 9.35 so I am not sure where the 9.21 "disappeared" to. I read the brockley blogspot regularly and before the ELL arrived they had the same anxieties about the reduced London bridge services but it appears to have worked well and overall there is an increased frequency of trains.
