A website for women who have been discriminated against whilst they were pregnant or after having a baby. It is estimated that 50,000 women a year lose their jobs due to maternity discrimination. This doesn't include the women who are demoted, harassed, aren't put forward for promotion or lose contracts if they are self employed. Pregnant Then Screwed is a place for you to tell your story in your own words so that we can expose this injustice, because exposure is a step towards positive societal change.
Hi all, thanks for looking at the project and for supporting the campaign. It is so vital that we change perceptions and the law so that we are better protected. Stories are such a powerful way to show how systemic a problem like maternity discrimination is. If any of you have experienced this please, please, please post your story on the site. It is completely anonymous. The more stories we have the more powerful the campaign. Thanks so much - Joeli

Hi EDF!

Great news about Pregnant Then Screwed. Yesterday, on Mother's Day, we launched our very first Crowdfunder! Since this thread started in 2015 we've gone from strength to strength but completely unfunded. We're on the cusp of changing a piece of legislation that limits pregnant women/new mothers to 90days to file discrimination claims. We launched a free, legal hotline. The time has come to grow the campaign so that we can offer more women our help with our mentor service and new campaigns. So far we've helped over 600 women and aim to assist 2,500 in the course of 2017.

If you're interested check out our video (featuring a few celebrities and MPs) and the pledge site. If you pledge, please share in your networks with friends, family, colleagues ... CSR Managers ;) so we cna give you a big shoutout and thanks!

We're really hoping this will be our silver bullet for a jam-packed 2017!

    • I don’t think it’s licensed for Sundays. It is licences for Fridays, but there hasn’t been anyone there on a Friday for years. So I doubt it. i think there’s a market at the Horniman on Sundays. Also pretty sure there’s one outside Herve Hill station on a Sunday.
    • I believe there is a minor injuries department at Guys, though I may have misremembered. Not very convenient for SE22 now the 40 no longer goes near. You have to get 2 buses or a train. Charging people (not sure if you mean financially or legally) would waste a lot more time, I would have thought? And  a bad bruise could be serious, depending on the cause and possibly other symptoms.
    • Good news - parliamentary debate scheduled for 19 January! Dear  Parliament is going to debate the petition you signed – “Limit the sale of fireworks to those running local council approved events only”. https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/732559 The debate is scheduled for 19 January 2026. Once the debate has happened, we’ll email you a video and transcript. Thanks, The Petitions Team House of Commons
    • Hey all, A month ago 2 black youths in ski masks/balaclavas on an electric bike tried to rob me where the old Poundland was on Lordship Lane. Last night, what seemed like the same two people tried to rob a Deliveroo driver by The Great Exhibition pub while I walked past. The driver swerved and nearly crashed, and they made off. Not sure what can actually be done about this, and if any residents have spoken to police. I can only implore people not to walk around with noise-cancelling headphones on..because sadly, you will get robbed.
