Has anyone heard of these? A friend in the States told me that her daughter was having one. After the 20 week scan is done at the hospital, the doctor writes down the sex of the baby, and puts it in a sealed envelope. The envelope is delivered to a bakery, who opens it and then bakes a cake with either a blue or pink middle. The cake is cut into at the party and it is the first time the parents to be know what they are having.

Seems like it could be fraught with difficulties.

People have started to do this here now I believe..the idea is to invite all your family and friends over to find out with you?it was in the papers recently cos someone got the wrong filling due to a mix up at the bakery! Whole thing sounds like a recipe for disaster (excuse the pun.)

My friend's daughter had the party and did invite friends and family. She sent me a picture of the father to be doing a fist pump when he found out it was going to be a boy. Wonder what would have happened if it was a girl.

Surely the best idea is to find out yourselves, then tell friends and family. I guess it helps a lot if you don't have any preference.

    • Anyone can deliver for Evri - my daughter having just passed her driving test tried Evri to make some money - they basically give you a route and as many parcels as they think you can cope with - you make money for each one you deliver, so you can imagine - speed is the priority. Why would they wait for you to answer the door when they can just throw it and take a photo? If you have a choice, choose a different courier service or shop elsewhere where they do.
    • Boil - it’s the customer’s fault, not the delivery person’s.
    • A bit of a long shot but I'm on the lookout for a portable pop-up counter or podium.   The kind you often see on a high street, used by charities or utility companies to advertise their wares.   I've included a photo to give you the idea. I'm a peckham-based artist and am looking for one for a free (and non-profit) community art project.  It can be in any workable condition and can already have signage on it as we will remove and redecorate ourselves.    Thanks in advance, Linzie
    • No I absolutely did not - that much is clear. Have you read the latest stories about Unite, Len and the hotel in Birmingham? The UK electorate were smart enough to reject a far-left party in 2019, let's hope they are smart enough to reject a far-right party at the next election too. If not we are all doomed.
