danmaitland
This may be some sort of mid life crisis, but I am a professional ex touring, now teaching musician, who finds himself suddenly yearning to start his first ever garage band. I am looking for a drummer and bassist(I dont mind swapping this role with another guitarist) who don't mind singing too. Thinking Jam rather than Hendrix (not that theres anything wrong with him), Talking heads 77, Radiohead, The Shins, Police etc.....Happy to do a few a covers, but have lots of original songs and would be looking to Jam up some more, plus would welcome others' good originals..Please dont be too busy (the London disease) to rehearse at least once a week.Scruffy and fun for sure, but I am looking for musicians of a reasonable standardI have played more acoustic than electric up to now, so I should then right mix of competent and scruffy too..Thanks for readingAll the best Dan Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/56413-local-bass-player-and-drummer-needed-for-mid-life-garage-band/ Share on other sites
Andybol
Hi DanI'm a drummer and guitarist and have been playing for around 30 years (I'm 38). What sort of age are you looking at - not sure if this is too old or too young :P I've played in bands for years and I'm a huge fan of garage bands - think Deus, Pavement etc. Happy to do a few covers too. PM me if you're interested Andy Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/56413-local-bass-player-and-drummer-needed-for-mid-life-garage-band/#findComment-837042 Share on other sites
Otta
Alas I don't have the free time to join in (I'm very keen to start playing more bass again, used to be pretty good but play more guitar these days). But if you get this going and want a local rehearsal space have a look at this place ion Peckham. Very good rates.http://superunisonstudios.com/ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/56413-local-bass-player-and-drummer-needed-for-mid-life-garage-band/#findComment-837060 Share on other sites
danmaitland
looks good thanks. No parking though by the looks.. bit of a downside for bands.. also charging extra for mics is a bit unusual..anyway the rooms do look nice... Jeremy
danmaitland Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> looks good thanks. I'm usually happier to use whatever gear is at the rehearsal room, leave the car at home and crack open a few beers. Mind you, that could explain why we never really get anything done! You already get 2 mics thrown into the basic price, which is enough for most people I'd think. danmaitland
ah, fair enough. I didnt know that.. A lot of drummers like to use their own kit in my experience.. gives them an excuse to keep us all waiting.... Otta
Our drummer has only used his own kit about twice since he bought it. Usually he just rocks up to gigs with cymbals and breakables. Jeremy
I couldn't bare playing in a band with an aussie, they'd just spend all the time banging on about how awesome it is back in Australia ;-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/56413-local-bass-player-and-drummer-needed-for-mid-life-garage-band/#findComment-837136 Share on other sites
