Hey guys,

Can anyone recommend a good pub to watch the Rugby in today (England v France) ?? I have asked the CPT, but I am getting confusing answers from the staff there, so I am not sure if they are playing it or not? (They were saying they would show it from 5.00pm - but that is after the game has finished??)

So, any other recommendations?

Cheers!

No Mac , nothing to do with the old Mag

We take the PA in about 3 weeks , having previously had a few pubs in the West End.

I was at the Uplands 2001 - 2003 in both its incarnations and had a really good rugby Oz/kiwi/SA crowd. Im hoping to build on that when we move to the Prince Albert.

In case anyone gets worried , football will still be massive at the PA..... in fact discussions have taken place on getting more football shown live.

I am very much keen on keeping pubs traditional as well as having a top notch sports coverage.

no one should be concerned about any loss of sports coverage

again PM me if you have any specific questions

cheers

Hoopers will be showing all the 6 Nations matches today (as usual!). There's always a good crowd following the games.Bar snacks will be available to order as well. We will also be showing the Lions tour in the summer.

We also have 4 real ales available, 4 draught lagers and around 40 bottled beers and lagers.

    • thanks Jenijenjen and all - yes, i remember walking or taking the bus from the elephant (where i was working) to Camberwell to get there.  I think Tim - who's still at Franklin's -  was there in those days, and the woman who ran the cafe!  Other food places that i remember fondly are the ones in Neal's Yard (with the Hunkin sculpture that you could put a coin in ) and the basement lunch place at the Tottenham Court Road junction with Hanway Street...
    • Did you try the emergency number posted above? It mentions lift breakdowns over the festive period outside the advertised  times. Hope you got it sorted x
    • People working in shops should not be "attempting to do the bill in their head." Nor if questioned should they be  trying to "get to an agreeable number." They should be actually (not trying to) getting to the correct number. I'm afraid in many cases it is clearly more than incorrect arithmetic. One New Year's Eve in a restaurant (not in East Dulwich but quite near it) two of us were charged for thirty poppadoms. We were quite merry when the bill came, but not so merry as to not notice something amiss. Unfortunately we have had similar things happen in a well established East Dulwich restaurant we no longer use. There is also a shop in East Dulwich which is open late at night. It used not to display prices on its goods (that may have changed). On querying the bill, we several times found a mistake had been made. Once we were charged twice for the same goods. There is a limit to how many times you can accept a "mistake".  There is also a limit to how many times you can accept the "friendly" sweet talking after it.
    • Adapted not forced.  As have numerous species around the world.  Sort of thing that Attenborough features.  Domestic dogs another good example - hung around communities for food and then we become the leader of the pack.  Not sure how long it will take foxes to domesticate, but some will be well on their way.    Raccoons also on the way https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1j8j48e5z2o
