ed_pete
It'll be a sad day when Food For Thought closes. I've been going on and off for 30 years and the food has never, ever let me down. I'd even go as far to says it's a London culinary icon.I shall definitely be popping in once or twice before they finally close the doors.http://www.theguardian.com/business/2015/mar/28/food-for-thought-londons-iconic-vegetarian-restaurant-set-for-closure Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/56517-noooo-food-for-thought-closing/ Share on other sites

Bellenden Belle
This is a bit like lamenting La Moulin closing. The sad truth is that it was a very dated restaurant. Vegetarian food has moved on considerably and yet Food for Thought remained as worthy and sadly to my humble taste buds as bland as ever. There are brilliant veggie places in London (Mildred's being just one example) - I think we should applaud Food for Thought for being one of the forerunners and then celebrate all the fabulous options that have followed. BrandNewGuy
Loved Crank's and Food For Thought. More locally, I really liked Heathers in Deptford too. Proper old skool veggie and brilliant with it. BrandNewGuy
And the rest of the food world has changed in the last thirty years ? not just a veggie offering or two in pubs, but also the full range of ethnic restaurants. My favourite vegetarian meals in London have been at non-vegetarian restaurants. Looking forward to Loubet's Grain Store Unleashed opening at the Zetters Hotel next week:http://www.grainstoreunleashed.com/ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/56517-noooo-food-for-thought-closing/#findComment-837699 Share on other sites
aquarius moon
If you're looking for another vegan/vegetarian place, try this:http://www.thecoachandhorsessoho.co.uk/It's London's first veggie pub and in Greek Street, Soho. They have a dining room upstairs. I went there twice last year. The fishless fish & chips is really good. BrandNewGuy
Wow, I had no idea it had gone veggie. Looks good. Been there many times and back in the 80s had the honour of standing next to Jeffrey Bernard in the urinals. He was staggeringly pissed. fortified
It isn't dated, it's traditional. There aren't enough Os to do justice to my 'Nooooo'.I love queueing down the stairs and squeezing up next to some random Spanish vegetarians for quiche and salad.
