I have stupidly been chucking junk mail into a basket.... Now have a sack full of it! Does anyone know of a place where I can take it to be burned or shredded. It's too much to do at home and having been the victim of fraud before I am loathe to just chuck it in the bin. Any ideas? Thanks

If I have too much to burn, I soak it in a bucket overnight, then drain and wring the paper. If it's already been shredded/torn small, the papier mache effect will be fraud-proof. You could use the bath if you have huge quantities.

It helps in that I just tear off identifying addresses/paragraphs. The rest goes into normal paper waste.

If that seems too much, I think the tip off the Old Kent Road is most likely to have what you want.

Thank you so much for taking the time to help. It is much appreciated, I am going to try the soaking in water, but I am sorry to say my own sloth like fault! I have loads of the stuff. I would be grateful for the number to the mobile shredding unit and to posting back to the sender! I think that will give me great please, and also keep the post office going a bit longer. Thanks again

    • Ah sorry, it was comedy.
    • I have never used AI in my life. It's just notes from my forthcoming monograph on light industry in Dulwich and Camberwell 1879-1946 (dates chosen for obvious reasons).
    • Thank you, this really made me chuckle. It's like you met my brother as he would be the one taking more than his share. Plus the 'pikey' chutney is a winner. Unusual as in can't be identified??? Sadly I'm not the host otherwise I would definitely do that I regularly shop in the Cheese Block and am a fan. But as people have pointed out, there is no cheese shop that charges less based on bulk, so Aldi unusual cheeses may be what the familam receive! Yay, so I can get discounted mouse nibbled cheese still! Oooo, now I do love a Stinking Bishop. It actually offends my stepmum by it's stinkiness but luckily she is not one of the attendees at this particular gathering.  This is blooming genius. It's actually my partner who has the biggest issue with buying in plastic so I will have to hide the wrappers from him!
