We're going through the whole extend or move dilemma and Penge is looking like a real possibility. Does anyone have any insights into primary schools in Penge? Alexandra Infants/Juniors seems highly rated by Ofsted, but I'm more thinking of the new Harris academies, any first hand insights would be really appreciated.

We visited the early years at Harris Penge and were impressed. Our daughter was already in school where we lived in Sydenham and because she has ASD and was very settled we made the decision to keep her where she is, but visiting the Harris highlighted how much better her school could be.

Staff seemed very knowledgeable about SEN issues, and their individual pupil records were extremely impressive.

There are things about Harris schools I'm not mega keen on, but had our circumstances been a bit different we'd have happily sent our girls there.

I haven't been but have read very positive things on the Penge Tourist Board (a Facebook group).

They seem to support the arts and don't have the strict disciplinarian ethos that Harris schools are often associated with. We'll be looking at primaries in Penge next year and am looking forward to visiting Harris.

Our daughter is starting at Harris Primary Kent House in September. We have been very impressed with what we have seen so far and I am sure she will be happy there. The catchment area for Alexandra Infants is tiny . It was our first choice but I am now actually pleased we got Harris. It has so much to go for !

    • I’m currently conducting exploratory research into menstrual health education in UK secondary schools and would really value the insight of PSHE leads, Heads of Year, or pastoral staff.    The research aims to understand:   How the menstrual cycle is currently taught within the RSHE framework Where schools feel confident — and where there may be gaps Whether students are taught and  asking questions around the full menstrual cycle, symptoms, wellbeing and conditions such as PMS/PMDD or endometriosis How schools support students in feeling empowered to understand their bodies and seek help appropriately Whether education around nutrition, lifestyle, and menstrual wellbeing is currently addressed   The long-term goal is to explore whether there is a need for additional, age-appropriate, medically informed support on the menstrual cycle.  I’m not selling a programme and there is no obligation beyond a 30 minute informal chat online (Unpaid). All conversations will be confidential and used only to inform the research. If you work in a UK secondary school and would be willing to share your perspective, I would be extremely grateful to hear from you. Please comment below or email me [email protected] Thank you for the vital work you do. Best wishes, Emma
