Reading the discussion on Motorcycles in Bus Lanes has brought me to a question

If we (as car drivers) get fined for using Bus Lanes, surely there should also be a similar fine for Buses when they stray out of Bus Lanes and disrupt the smooth flow of traffic.

I believe we should start a national campaign, backed by Boris, to keep buses in bus lanes and leave the rest of the road to cars.

This, I predict, should also be launched at the same time as the 'stop mums driving their sprogs 5 yards to school' campaign

Mr MacGabhann

Totally Tongue in Cheek, but at the same time why not... bus lanes, whilst assisting the smooth passage of buses, do congest roads and become self fulfilling prophecies "since this bus lane was installed, traffic is slower then ever on this stretch of road and buses move faster which justifies the bus lane in the first place !!"

I have heard of (but not re4ad) studies that state if we remove bus lanes, roundabouts and lights then traffic will flow far quicker and smoother then it does at the moment. Interesting thought

    • Hello, I'm from Ireland and would love my children to be able to know the language - I can speak it but I'm not so good at teaching it. If there's anyone local who used to teach Irish at primary school (preferably Connemara Irish) and who'd like to tutor 3 boys aged 7-10 for an hour or two a week please do let me know. Thanks, Sarah
