Mick Mac
Prompted by the education debate under "Budget" as regards State v Public schools, it has made me think what the general concensus is as regards the quality, or lack thereof, of the education at Goodrich School. It received only a "satisfactory" OFSTED report recently but that I guess means it is neither good nor bad. I take my wifes advice on this as she knows the school better than me, but I'd like to know of others experiences. And my eldest daughter is 6 - we hear of people moving from ED because of the lack of secondary school options. Are there any good state secondary schools in the area for girls, as we would be reluctant to move. Thanks. snorky
Nothing personal MicMac, but this is better served in the Familes section - an open question like this will prove to be a hit amongst the earnest mothers who " only want the best for their children" and will pull every underhand stroke in the book to get a place in whatever school is considered the best in the area and provokes an application frenzy amongst the chattering classes. snorky
(In short though , its not a bad school - not as good as many make it out to be , but stable enough to get a youngster started - up there with the other coupel of decent ones in the hood) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6092-goodrich-is-it-any-good/#findComment-195552 Share on other sites
ClareC
My friend is a teacher and doesnt rate Ofsted at all - apparantly its all about good admin not results / quality of teaching. Mick Mac
Thanks - I'm sure the teachers were disappointed with a satisfactory rating. I think they were expecting better. But nevertheless they have to learn from it. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6092-goodrich-is-it-any-good/#findComment-195587 Share on other sites
Mikecg
I used to know a girl with the surname Goodrich and she was great fun, for a boy of 15 which I was when we used to play together, when she was about 18 I realized how beautiful she was and thought if only what a cracking girl she was we couldn't look each other in the eye afterwards. brum
daizie Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> my nineteen yr old went here. Wasn't your daughter a bit old for Goodrich? I thought kids have to leave before the age 11. The teachers must surely have noticed her height compared to her classmates ;-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6092-goodrich-is-it-any-good/#findComment-195764 Share on other sites

daizie
She went in there how she came out. Her friends who went in clever came out that way, and friends who were average came out average, and the ones who went in struggling still came out struggling. I never saw anything that progressive or stretching, i think realistically you would have to pay for a private tutor if you wanted any more than 'maintaining', but on the whole it was good enough.
