I agree it would be nice to have sand at Peckham / dulwich. If you're looking for a good sand pit though, the one opposite the Horniman isn't half bad.

Most responsible dog owners do clear up after their dogs. It's the irresponsible minority who give everyone else a bad name.

I hate to say it, you see the visible dog poos, but I can guarantee you cats and foxes are weeing in it every single day. Open sand pits for kids should really have a cover on them so they don't get wet / attract wildlife, otherwise it's a bit of an open litter-box! That said, can't believe some dog owners are just allowing that to happen...

Can I ask a silly question here? What is the actual reason for putting sand on the grass? How does it help?

I believe it improves drainage, allowing surface water to dissipate, so it helps for sports etc..
