HonaloochieB
...is Mott The Hoople. For those unaware of this spot it's a weekly feature where RE invites people to vote on their favourite song from a particular singer/group and plays the four most popular.I'm guessing it'll be the latter part of their career that gets he most votes.I'm torn between Angel Of Eighth Avenue, No Wheels To Ride, The Moon Upstairs, All The Young Dudes and All The Way From Memphis. Of course I realise this a completely self-indulgent thread, though of course if I was being that self-indulgent I'd be considering Honaloochie Boogie.Anyone else got any MTH faves they're going to vote for. HonaloochieB
Oh Satan's toenails, literally as i was posting that, bloody Elms has now said we vote for Ian Hunter solo tracks as well.I wish he hadn't done that, the tool.So I can now throw in Once Bitten Twice Shy, It Ain't Easy When You Fall, Boy, Shades Off, The Truth The Whole Truth Nothing But The Truth, Irene Wilde, All American Alien Boy, Standing In My Light, Bastard, Michael Picasso and many more.I'll have to give this some thought. HonaloochieB
RATS is a fine choice Quids and would be the choice of many a long time MTH fan, but the original single version with the guitaring from Mick Ralphs and the spoken part by one of Thunderthighs.I found the album version with Ariel Bender's guitar weedy and Lyndsey DePaul's spoken part too arch for my liking. But no doubt it will make a good showing. PeckhamRose
I used to listen to Robert Elms regularly and tried SO hard to "tolerate" his 'down with the lads' ways and his accent/class chameleon like qualities. He interviewed me a couple of times and changed his class talk accordingly. In the end I just had to stop listening. Then Chris Morris on The Day Today (or was it Brass Eye) did that fabulous interview with Darcus Howe. I just found the script.CM: ?I?m sitting opposite a man, he knows nothing, he talks all the time, the result is he?s a trenchant buffoon, he had no idea how to present television shows, he looks ridiculous in that fashion wear. He swans around all the time hoping that people will recognise him, when infact nobody?s even remotely interested. He?s taken up enough time on this show already and he hasn?t even opened his mouth. God knows why he?s here, I?ve nothing to ask the guy. And for all I know he may be a coco shunter too. Darcus Howe.DH: ?What?s a coco shunter??CM: ?Coco Shunter? That?s just what I?ve got, er, oh, sorry, that?s the introduction to Robert Elms. Sorry. Do you know Robert Elms? I?ve just read out the introduction to Robert Elms."So I shall play my Mott The Hoople without his prompting. Greasy little bugger he is.And he doesn't like XTC. Pahhh. dazeykat
I am a fairly tolerant person, BUT, Robert Elms should not be encouraged. I find him pompous, irritating in the extreme, & the embodiment of charmlessness. My other half used to insist we listened ti him in the car... trapped!! HonaloochieB
Wow Tracey from ED, of course All The Young Dudes and well done for playing it to your kids. A well balanced diet, sturdy shoes and Mott The Hoople give them the best start in life. And well done for having a sister who shared sweat with Ian Hunter. So it seems there's quite an ED MTH 'chapter' going on.
