Hi,

Two bikes were stolen from our hallway last night on Oakhurst Grove- even though the front door was shut and the lights were on with people were in on the first and second floors. Our front door was also left wide open and we didn't hear a thing, despite sitting in the front room and not having the TV on. We reckon they must have picked the lock and come in and taken the two bikes that are stored in the hallway - and maybe even planned the break-in.

Please be wary of any similar break-ins and I urge you to double lock your front doors.

If anyone saw anything suspicious on Oakhurst Grove between 9.15pm and 10.30pm last night, please let me know.

Thanks,

Susie

Hi there very sorry to hear about your loss! however like jctg said, do try and make it down to brick lane tomorrow morning, there are endless threads over bike forums, about beloved stolen bikes often turning up at brick lane market on a sunday, and being sold!

*Tee*

We've been having problems with this in our apartment block too - despite "secure" underground parking they've got in several times and we lost 2 bikes in under a month and they used what the police reckon was an angle grinder to cut through everything to get them free... so it's not just kids messing around. They also recently cut through the hydraulic cables of our car park gates... Police at the ED station told mye other half there's a bit of a spate of these things going on atm... We spent 8 hrs at brick lane market a few weeks ago looking for our bikes and had no luck but it made us sick to see so many expensive bikes there (grrr have to stop writing before I wind myself up again...)

Thing is, even if they shut that whole section of Brick Lane down / regulated stallholders, there's still a million other parts of the East End where you can openly buy stolen goods I'm afraid...

The one near me when I lived in Liverpool was pretty much a legalised 'fence'.

It was often a game to see how soon after being burgled it took for missing posessions to appear in the window.

    • My car was stolen a few months back from my driveway but I had a tracker and found it in a private car park in Lavender Hill close to the police station. I was lucky. The thieves hide it up against that eventuality. High spec cars are targeted I'm afraid. The way it was stolen required the thieves to wire in their own computer accessing a front light (which had had a metal sheet welded across which they prised off). They had searched for a tracker but not found it. They also had to cut away a steering wheel lock. They had to come well tooled up and briefed to do what they did. Beating them off is non trivial. As I said, them not finding my tracker was just lucky.
    • Been with The Gardens now for around 30 years and very rarely do I have a problem. I went in to collect a form and mentioned that my leg was hurting and hot- was seen immediately by the Practice nurse who then arranged an appointment on the Saturday with the Extra care service at TJ Centre where I saw a doctor, who then sent me off to Kings for further tests.. I recently booked a flu jab but appointment is in 2 weeks.
    • Have used Milk and More for years. When the price went up we cancelled a couple of pints but we still have 8 pints a week. If we are expecting family etc we buy from Sainsburys to top up. We kept on with M & M as if weather bad we could order extra stuff from them to save us a trip to Sainsburys Local. Also gives employment to our milkman.
    • Hi there, Our Lexus NX300H, (reg RF18BWO) was stolen off our driveway last night, Monday 27th October. It was there at 9pm, and had gone by 7am. If anyone has any footage on their doorbell or Ring, that would be super helpful. We have asked some neighbours and reported to the police etc.  Most upsettingly, there was a box of old family videos in the car boot, in an old Sainsburys box (photo attached). If anyone sees these dumped at the side of the road, please contact me asap! They are priceless videos that my deceased grandparents took. Thank you for any info, Jojo
