I live on the corner. Fairly quiet, depending on how far up you are (the roof tile place has noisy roofers from very early a.m., altho evenings are quiet thank goodness) - parking is a nightmare (far worse than Archdale Rd, e.g.). Otherwise, it's great and very friendly. Fab position - everything close to hand. Prices are such a joke i'm surprised anyone's buying anything unless you've won the lottery ;-) , there's a miniscule top floor flat in Bawdale on at 300K, which is so laughable i'm still crying... However, I think Bawdale's a good road, so good luck!
Yes, I heard the brothel rumour too. Apparently it no longer exists on Bawdale tho! I can reassure you that I haven't seen any obvious, er, 'visitors' to such establishments wondering up and down the road... although i don't know what brothel frequenters are supposed to look like!!! :))

Snorky isnt/ wasnt a visitor to the aforementioned basement flat...but he knows all

Apparently it is now closed - its comings and goings provided much asmusement to the regulars in franklins by all accounts and its location was well known - the Local constab. were also " aware" of the location and MAY have been vistors, hence the relative longetivity of the establishment, despite its notoriety

Snorky, thanks for the Brothel update.

My friend was trying to purchase a second floor flat but the deal seems to be falling flat. He was offering stupid amounts for it and the seller seems to be dragging his heels..... Best of out me thinks.

Keep twitching those curtains!!!!

Thanks you all for your advice, I have just come back from having a look at the property on Bawdale Road.

You were pretty much spot on??

Bawdale Road seems to be a nice road and the flat was hideously overpriced.

I witnessed no evidence of a brothel?

Thanks again for your help!!!!

    • I’m currently conducting exploratory research into menstrual health education in UK secondary schools and would really value the insight of PSHE leads, Heads of Year, or pastoral staff.    The research aims to understand:   How the menstrual cycle is currently taught within the RSHE framework Where schools feel confident — and where there may be gaps Whether students are taught and  asking questions around the full menstrual cycle, symptoms, wellbeing and conditions such as PMS/PMDD or endometriosis How schools support students in feeling empowered to understand their bodies and seek help appropriately Whether education around nutrition, lifestyle, and menstrual wellbeing is currently addressed   The long-term goal is to explore whether there is a need for additional, age-appropriate, medically informed support on the menstrual cycle.  I’m not selling a programme and there is no obligation beyond a 30 minute informal chat online (Unpaid). All conversations will be confidential and used only to inform the research. If you work in a UK secondary school and would be willing to share your perspective, I would be extremely grateful to hear from you. Please comment below or email me [email protected] Thank you for the vital work you do. Best wishes, Emma
