Look at post Southwark nx road plans 11 nov 2014. Shows more than just resurfacing. Cllr Barber responses to all

You might have to dig not too good with it but it's there

Yes . Exactly..

It's a minor inconvenience if you need the bus stop..

The crossing is still in place..

BUT Iceland has now gone. I'm sure it will all be fixed by the time M&S comes to town.

Otherwise there will be riots.

Foxy

But the point is, it's an "inconvenience" which is going on far longer than it should because nobody is bloody working on it.

And it's probably not a "minor" inconvenience if you have a disability which means it takes you much longer than most people to walk to another bus stop.

GRRRRRRRRR.

Ah OK, fair enough then, (nearly) all is forgiven :)

Just to note that the workmen are out there today installing kerbs.

I was so happy to see this that I chatted to the guys and asked what the hold-up was and they said that they had to wait for the granite kerbs to arrive from China.

The kerbs should be done by Monday and then they'll install the pavement, so hopefully it will all be done by the end of next week, fingers crossed.

The granite deliver delay isn't a wind-up, this has happened before (the Melbourne/EDG raised junction for example)... Southwark orders in bulk to save money (not just from China, there have been delays from Ireland as well), but works get delayed when supply runs out of the specified units.

  • 2 weeks later...

Pleased to report that they are charging through the road works at the moment at least 3 stones completed a day................

Really can they go any slower ?

There are no more then 4 workmen on site at one time and by the looks of it 2 have to be talking and eating or sitting ?

WTF how slow when is the completion date 2018 ? Totally acceptable for a main road to take this long,

Will reduce the cost of a barrier if Cllr B thinks it might be a good idea if someone considers it a good idea to boost property valves

Hang on, lads; I've got a great idea.

Let's pedestrianize Lordship Lane, back track on the Melbourne Grove scheme and send all the Buses through there.

    • I had this same query the other week - Mediquip no longer cover Southwark and I believe the company when bankrupt? Anyway, after some digging, I found the news on the adult social care page of Southwark Council website.  The new supplier of medical equipment that is issued to Southwark residents via an OT from the council or the NHS is Provide Equipment Hub.  I emailed them about returning two items and they did promptly respond and came and picked up the items the following week.  Email them at [email protected] Importantly, they will come and do urgent repairs of equipment like hospital beds.  I'm surprised that Southwark haven't made this change more widely known as it will impact many vulnerable residents.

    • Hello East Dulwich families 👋 I wanted to introduce myself to the community. I’m a professional family & wedding photographer with 14+ years of experience, and I split my time between the US and London throughout the year. I’ll be based in London for the coming weeks and would love to photograph more local families here in East Dulwich. My approach is very relaxed and natural — no stiff posing, no pressure — just real connection, movement, and the beautiful everyday moments that tell your family’s story. I work especially well with kids and parents who feel “awkward” in front of the camera (which honestly is most of us!). Sessions can take place at home, in the park, on your favourite street, or anywhere that feels meaningful to you. The goal is to create images that feel like your life — not a photoshoot. If anyone has been thinking about documenting this season with their children, I’d love to connect, answer questions, or simply share examples of my work. No pressure at all — just happy to be here and meet some neighbours. You can see my work here: https://bluesparkphotography.com/family/ (use the contact page on the site to send me a message if you're interested!).
