Let's pedestrianise Lordship Lane

What 5, 6? I can think of 2 banks, Inside 72, the post office and the little trophy / shoe repair shop.

We'll end up with one every 10 metres, and the traffic will be even worse.

Pedestrianising LL could be the death of it as we know and love it. Whilst us folks lucky enough to live within walking distance are able to amble down to our favourite eatery/coffee shop/bar/purveyor of fine baby buggies (delete as applicable) LL thrives off passing trade. The easy parking on the Lane itself ensures folks use our local shops instead of the Sainsbury's. Northcross would work much better and I would be all for it.

But if you are comparing crossing LL just there with a new zebra crossing, to reaching the same spot by passing (5 or 6) doors, crossing on the pelican crossing, passing estate agents and the corner supermarket, crossing the bottom of Northcross Road junction, passing the Palmerston and then several more doors then the advantages of a new crossing become clearer. :))

Pedestrianisation of LL is a totally impractical idea. LL is the traffic hub of SE22 and Barry Road couldn't cope with all the extra traffic, which would make the jam at the Peckham Rye/E Dulwich Road junction even worse than it is at the moment. In addition lots of traffic would be diverted through residential roads such as Eynella, Woodwarde and Beauval Roads. There would be massive problems for buses, and more importantly emergency services, especially ambulances heading towards Kings College Hospital, so the traffic authorities wouldn't buy the idea.

On the other hand, there is an urgent need for at least one pelican crossing between Northcross Road and Goose Green

Sorry but I think this is a crazy idea. Yes, we do need at least one more pedestrian crossing but as for making this important road through East Dulwich pedestrians-only, it could never work. A round about route would add simply ages to bus journeys, making more people jump in their cars and would also stop people who do not live nearby visiting the area and spending money in the local shops and cafes.

    • You don't need a gym to lose 10kg. Get a set of dumbbells and maybe a resistance band, find a HIIT channel you like on youtube and workout in your room, eat clean and go out every day. £115/mo is ridiculous. I thought they were supposed to be about £20 to £30 and most people give up come February anyway.
    • Point taken..I go 3-4 times a week and have done every week for several years however £115 a month is still a lot of money for many people (myself included) for a 'non essential' One can if one wishes excersise by running or Cycling, swimming once in a while. Gym membership IS a luxury...
    • Tawny owls are hooting in Dawsons Heights very near me. But very elusive birds. Sadly now on the amber list.  I have heard the owls every night for the past couple of weeks  It is good to know they are here. They are quite loud so I think they are very near. I have never seen an owl in the wild before and wish I  could  see them.
