Planning Application 33 Nutbrook St

Recommended Posts

To those in the streets surrounding 33 Nutbrook St, i.e. Nutbrook Studios, can I draw your attention to this planning application:

http://planbuild.southwark.gov.uk:8190/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=summary&keyVal=_STHWR_DCAPR_9561249

The current small business and artists studios/creative space at The Dye House is subject to proposal to change of use to residential.

Details of previous attempt to change use from 2010 are to be found at the Southwark Planninh website by searching for 33 Nutbrook. There was significant opposition from people in streets in Peckham and ED at that time, hence bringing it to the awareness of people on the ED forum.

The proposal will replace the existing building with significantly taller houses which will directly impact all residents on north side of Nutbrook St, south side of Howden St and west side of Waghorn St. Additionally a change of use precedent could affect those on Maxted Rd should the potential residual studio site also be subject to planning application for change of use with associated loss of amenity to these residents also. If you are a local resident could you please have a look at the planning application and consider contacting Southwark with your opinions?

Thanks

Edited to remove direct link to previous consultation documents.

Sorry, don't quite understand this sentence! Could you perhaps rephrase?

The approval of The Dye House application (i.e. the east side of the Nutbrook studios which sits in the land between Howden, Waghorn, Nutbrook, Maxted roads) would set a precedent for future approval to convert the west side of the studios, i.e. the building which sits behind the houses on the east side of Maxted Rd. This application is therefore relevant to those on Maxted who may find themselves in future with a planning application to build houses behind their gardens. I hope this is clearer.

The deadline has been extended. The delegates planning officer is thought to be likely to recommend approval and therefore the ward councillors have agreed to call in the decision to planning committee. Please if you live in the surrounding streets consider replying to the consultation on the southwark website.

Yesterday was technically the last day for comments. But if you get it in the next few days even next week, it should still be taken into account as the committee will be hearing it now in October. There are now over 30 objections. See http://planbuild.southwark.gov.uk:8190/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=neighbourComments&keyVal=_STHWR_DCAPR_9561249

The erection of coral fencing  to herd us all in one direction so that we can be observed by security prior to getting into the "shop" is quite horrible. The fresh meat counter has gone . The fresh fish counter has gone. The fresh cheese counter has gone. Most of the staff have gone ! Just a couple of attended checkouts left,  sometimes just the one with people waiting quietly inline But most people are herded into the payment coral and wait just as long to do a redundant cashiers job. unload your own shopping, place your bag in the right position so that it can be weighed and the quietly pick each item you are about to purchase , look for the barcode and pass the item across the scanner. Then put item in shopping bag.  What could be easier or more efficient ? If something goes wrong or you are trying purchase alcohol, just look round nervously, not wanting to make a fuss. If nothing happens start waving to the overworked member of staff in a sainsburys uniform  running up and down looking after a few dozen self service checkouts Don't forget to take your receipt (piece of paper that will be screwed up and discarded discreetly  shortly afterwards )  It's essential to present your receipt in order to escape the coral. There's nothing pleasant about Sainsburys any more. ! Why do I go there? Because I can get the whole thing over with and not get a parking ticket !! And NO !   I'm 77 completely knackered and am not going to get a bike

    • We do not go there anymore, it used to be a pleasant experience, but now shoppers are made to feel like criminals and the prices are not great. The till receipt gates to stop us nicking stuff do not work half the time - I would rather shop somewhere that makes me feel welcome. We also want to support our local independents, so we are trying to eat cheaper using less costly ingredients and buy local - it's a good way for us also to lose some weight! Veg and pulses.....and less booze 😞
    • Has seemed really empty over the past few weeks, with hardly anyone in the store on Thursday lunchtime, have I missed something or are people shopping somewhere else?
