Well...

I have said this elsewhere (I'm beginning to enjoy this nagging) but the way to stop the school worry is to write to our locl MP's so that Dulwich gets its school problem sorted and now is the time as the current school places crisis is in full flow.

Hmm, have mulled this one over, many times over the past 14 years. We've thought about moving, but nope - ED has it all, & where we live in ED suits us down to the ground. Excellent primary ed & outstanding secondary ed all within 10 minutes walking distance (adult legs). Really, we'd be mad to move (oh yes, forgot to mention fab neighbours)!

Incidentally my friends out in the sticks tell me the school catchment situation is just as bad elsewhere. I think I'd have to have a much, much better reason than 'education' to move.

Slightly off topic but what happens if you live in one place, get into a local primary school and then move house out of the catchment area while the child is still going there? Do you have to switch schools (wondering if it's like doctors' surgeries!)

no

many people rent in a catchment area for the sole purpose of getting into a school, and then move out when they have got a place. Distasteful behavior

Still, it would be a cheaper option , but time expensice to find Whatever brand of God provides the best option for your kids education and give it 3 or so years of worship and glad handing the vicar/priest/Rabbi etc at every opportunity to get his approval for the school it is attached to . and you go to heaven at the end of it apparently , so maybe not entrely wasted

    • Perhaps Gooseygreeny was not familiar with the wildlife before Gala was imposed on the park, since when its value to wildlife has deteriorated. The Park had never been disturbed before, as the council had respected it as a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation, so only the Common was licensed by them as a site for events. The first time Gala held their event, there was a tree with woodpeckers nesting in it right in the middle of the main field they used and thrushes, blackbirds and great tits nesting within the shrubs and trees immediately surrounding the field. The woodpeckers were thriving on ants from the anthills in the grass. To those of us who used to enjoy watching the wildlife, it was very obviously a Site of Importance for a variety of birds. Despite being accessed by the public and their dogs, it had been relatively undisturbed,  which was one of the main reasons why it was so special and why I have been opposed to the Gala festival being held during the bird nesting season.
    • So dangerous!    Can you be more specific about the road this was in and when you report it?  Maybe there’s some CCTV footage available
    • Hi - I’m looking for bean bags, cushions, toys and games for our play therapist who works weekly with some of our children. Any donations like board games, cuddly toys, dolls houses, action figures, dolls, puppets, easel etc would be very welcome. For Rushey Green Primary School
    • Disgusted by the people letting off fireworks so close to the petrol station by goose green!  Putting everyone else in serious danger! You'd think it was common sense to not have massive sparks so close to petrol. It is antisocial behaviour and I will call the police on individuals that do this for everyone's safety (including their own).
