  1. Hi, I'm a locally based children's photographer and I'm currently developing a personal project based around childhood influences and memories. At present I'm building a sound archive of people recounting memories or formative experiences: http://us13.campaign-archive1.com/?u=1fc49ddec9cc93a0c440c01b2&id=9a3a1ba7b4. I'd like to make sound recordings of these for research purposes, but the memories themselves will remain anonymous. If you would be interested in taking part, please email [email protected] for more details. Thanks in advance, Lol.

  3. Hi all, I have heard from neighbours that a cat I believe is mine was spotted on Sydenham Rise - it seems he had a serious collision with a car which killed him. However, the body has since been moved. The cat was last spotted at around 11.15pm last night and when I was made aware of the sighting at 8am this morning, he was already gone. He is a smallish ginger tabby male - quite fluffy. If anyone has any information about this, could you please get in touch, I'm desperate to find out where he is so I can bring him home to say goodbye. Thanks Lol.
  4. Local portrait photographer Lol Johnson will be holding an OPEN STUDIO on June 27th. Customers can enjoy a free shoot with no obligation to purchase prints. This is a great opportunity for those who would like the chance to try a session out without having to commit financially. Places are very limited and booking is essential. PM or email [email protected] if you would like further details. Please visit www.loljohnson.com to view an extensive portfolio of Lol's work.
  5. We need to rescue 3 large curtains which have been damaged in the wash! They have shrunk, but have plenty of hem so can be lengthened easily. The main problem is the lining has ripped (probably due to age) and needs to be replaced. They are for a huge window and we can't afford to have new curtains made at present. Anyone capable of making good...?
  6. Apparently the catchment for Fairlawn last year was 400m!
  7. Agree they are scum -but these opportunists have some morals! I had my car stolen in Forest Hill a while back - a crappy old fiesta with 2 baby seats in the back. Later that day the kindly thieves actually stopped mid joyride in my stolen car to let me cross the road with my daughter!! As you can imagine lots of swearing and fist shaking ensued at which point they sped off to dump my car (minus baby seats, back seats etc..). I know they were opportunists as I found a steering wheel in my garden which turned out to be from a neighbours car which they had broken into the same night but had no luck with stealing so resorted to vandalism.

  9. Yes, sorry Food Stories - I can see how my post looked like a direct attack on you - not how was it intended I can assure you.
  10. Intelligent conversation I can handle, but bitchy comments suggesting people have ulterior motives just makes this forum read like a joke! My flipant comment was a result of reading too many pointless posts from seemingly irate people telling other people that their 'opinions' are wrong! An opinion cannot, by it's nature, be wrong.
  11. Why is it no one can have an opinion on this forum without it turning into some kind of cat fight? Whether you like the Palmerston or not is irrelevant really - it's always packed with people who are more than happy to pay the prices they charge. If you don't like it - don't go, they don't need your custom anyway.
  12. I cycled around London for the best part of 10 years before I had my daughter. I never owned a car in that time, but do now and am always give cyclists a wide berth on the roads. However, even I find that I am sometimes taken by surprise by cyclists who sometimes seem to appear from nowhere and realise now that I must have put myself in very vulnerable situations many times in the past. A friend of mine was knocked off her bike and killed in Notting Hill by a lorry only a matter of weeks ago. I can not stress enough how important I think it is that cyclists never take anything for granted. They should never assume that a driver has seen them - of course drivers should drive safely no matter what the conditions - but cyclists ride around extremely busy road in London with little or no protection and need to do all they can to prevent a collision.
  13. I can't imagine the horse meat disco is particularly OAP friendly either Lenk!
  14. Hi Jamma, The Herne Tavern is very family friendly with a lovely big garden which has a climbing frame. They are holding an easter egg hunt on Sat 11th and there will be a mini makeover photo studio with dressing up and face painting. 15. Perhaps the reason this kind of description is taken offensively is that colour normally only get mentioned if the subjects of the description are black. People don't often bother using the word 'white' when offering a vague description of white people....

  17. Not all pubs are going to be serving food of restaurant standards. That's what the Dulwich Woodhouse is, isn't it - a pub? It's a shame to let a bad meal put you off going to a perfectly decent pub ever again - especially one with such a great beer garden. What's wrong with eating at restaurants these days anyway...?
