gorilla7
Can anyone advise of a charity that requires volunteers for Christmas Day and Boxing Day.My circumstances have changed this year and I would like to offer my help to a charitable organisation that is open over the Christmas period.I do not have access to a vehicle though am willing to travel by foot, hopefully not 10 miles each way!!If anyone know of anything and needs someone to lend a hand, please let me know. All replies would be gratefully receivedThank you Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/70298-christmas-voluntary-work-wanted/ Share on other sites

NewDad
I have volunteered for Crisis at Christmas for the past 4 years; it runs for a week around Christmas. The closest centre to ED is near South Bermondsey station, however there are always plenty of volunteers willing to give a lift on Christmas Day if you don't have a car.http://www.crisis.org.uk/pages/crisis-at-christmas.htmlThey set up a Facebook site as well to help communicate to potential volunteers.https://www.facebook.com/groups/151538971561536/?fref=tshttps://www.facebook.com/groups/170313719674838/?fref=tsThe most interesting place to volunteer is in the kitchen, but you will need a food safety certificate before volunteering. Crisis also offer a food handling course for free in the lead up to Christmas (4 hours on a Saturday). The launch on the Crisis website for Christmas 2015 should happen in the next month or so.I have made many friends, and its a great experience! gorilla7
Wow that information is great, I will contact them as soon as the launch starts. I did some voluntary work in a kitchen via work this year, it was such a great day, never worked so hard but had a wonderful time with the volunteers and the people who came Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/70298-christmas-voluntary-work-wanted/#findComment-886506 Share on other sites

As we might have some excellent opportunities you might enjoy at out community arts organisation. I've included the link to our website below - check it out and do come back to me.Let me know,Bold Tendencies Teamhttp://boldtendencies.com Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/70298-christmas-voluntary-work-wanted/#findComment-892046 Share on other sites
